This "institution" is ILLEGAL!
I have never been SECTIONED, this is a legal term, I have never been sectioned as it is a legal term it is the means by which people are detained in a hospital sometimes without their consent.
I have always refused refused treatment,
A simple search on on the internet and you can find this on the NHS website:
Voluntary: you must make your decision to consent to or refuse treatment alone, and your decision must not be due to pressure by healthcare professionals, friends or family.
I had to stay in a Cygnet's hospital Harrow on the Hill for four years.
I didn't give consent and and was told I was not allowed to leave!
The police say to complain to the NHS!
Someone close this down!
I need to say as well,
One of their primary reasons for the detention was anxiety, WHY???
I need to say I believe I should be allowed to leave the country.
Can you have a full time job and live in a hospital full Time?
Why did Geofrey Cox consent for and push for this?
He is the MP.

Had various degrees of support. Some extremely bad, but the Psychotherapists I'm seeing at the moment is very good. The problem is there isn't enough funding for mental health and each member of staff has too many people on their caseload! Didn't think I'd ever say this, but think it was better as a hospital, as there is enough support in the community, especially at weekends!

They neglect people with the most needs, if you're likely to get better with a few weeks intervention, then you're likely to be looked after, if you have a life long illness and high needs, you're neglected. Appalling!

I am under a section 117 but this means NOTHING to any mental health team! I ve had NO care coordinator for at least four months as I moved area and gp. They knew this! I have asked to be referred to the depression and anxiety services but...... nothing! I ve asked to attend the day programme at The Iris a Centre as my diagnosis meets their criteria, but ........l NO they won t even assess me! I haven t got a psychologist or psychiatrist. I ve resorted back to self harming because no one will even listen to me. Mental health in Devon is ........THE PITS! And that s me being mild!

Would give 0 stars if I could as lack of support and services is appalling, I'm sure majority of the staff are very nice but due to lack of funding the mental health system in Devon has failed a lot of people, including my own family members and myself. I hope this is something that can potentially be improved in the future as mental health issues are arising more rapidly recently. Some of the staff I have spoken to aswell regarding certain issues have been most unhelpful and unprofessional. Do not recommend, sorry.

Do not go on the Mother and baby unit here ask to go to Bournemouth. Terrible staff senior members in navy uniforms sat in office texting or on personal calls. Staff members telling clinically depressed mums to get up out of bed and stop being lazy. The lack of knowledge about children is laughable pass your baby to someone who isn't in a green uniform and watch the panic. There are a couple of nurse staff that were OK one being a man and the other with blonde hair, can't remember their names but if anyone suggest you go there demand Bournemouth it's worth the extra drive as we later discovered when another family member got admitted.

I really don t understand why the previous reviews were so bad. My appointment was very good with brilliant help from the psychoanalyst and arrangements for follow ups and support. Very professional staff and a safe atmosphere.

Not happy with how my mental health issues have been addressed here. Just got told that getting my own flat and going back to work will improve my mental state. I didn't find the guy who saw me helpful at all and wasnt high risk enough apparently to be referred to other mental health organisations. Very disappointed with the physcartrist diagnosis and lack of care I recieved here after a long wait of being referred.
