I think any attempts at assessment are pointless, it is clear that this house has stood for topical and contemporary theater for decades. The direction of the program must of course always be seen in connection with the responsible director. The current director Karin Beyer stands for contemporary theater with current political references, which are cleverly incorporated into historical material. I am a fan, a must for every theater lover.
A wonderful traditional theater house. We sat in a very cute box, the view of the stage wasn't that perfect, but it was still a great feeling. Nevertheless, you don't have to be particularly well-dressed - it's a theater for everyone and I found that very good about it.

It was a great pleasure that the performance was very well attended despite the harbor birthday. Visits here are always worthwhile!
Beautiful house! Despite all the positive criticism in the feature pages, it was already the second and last time (merchant from Venice) that I watched a Shakespeare piece so torn apart there. Shakespeare also lives from language. If a piece is rewritten or reinterpreted in this way, the name is only used as a promotion.
Not every piece is world class, but many. Always a good atmosphere and visually a classic theater from the early days.

It is always worth visiting the Schauspielhaus. Great plays, funny book readings ... but I like the hall here. The atmosphere is harmonious and just feels cozy.

Large and magnificent neo-baroque theater from 1899 - and a theater institution in Germany. The interior is worth seeing, it was restored in 1984 as historic as possible.

Canteen: super nice staff, but really bad food! A chicken schnitzel so greasy and the rice for it totally dry and sticky to get there, that's kind of an art ...
The Junge Schauspielhaus is one of our favorite theaters for children.
From time to time children's theater pieces are shown there that we have been visiting again and again for 2 years. My son, now 6 years old, is always happy to go there.
You can see well from every seat (unless you have a giant in front of you).
The sets and costumes are always creative and complex. Often good musicians accompany what is happening on stage.
The pieces are cheeky, humorous and modern and are also fun for adults.
Our recommendation: "At the ark at eight".
Insanely great building and a fabulous staging of the pieces. Totally thrilling.
Towards the end, the content of the play was not what we expected, but regardless of that it was a grand theater and good actors.
