Horrible website with limited information on active plans and prior year expenses. Benefits, customer service, and the overall experience pales in comparison to better insurance such as MetLife Dental. Avoid at all cost if you can.
Absolutely terrible. I have PPO plus premier insurance that I pay for out of each paycheck. I had a tooth rupture, out of the blue so I made an appointment with my dentist that has a deal with Delta. They hopped on to their computer and saw what delta would cover for them to remove my ruptured tooth and told me my deductible.
3 weeks after I've paid my deductible and had the tooth removed, delta FINALLY processed the claim and covered ZERO dollars, sticking me with the $300 bill, on top of what I pay them monthly.
Why but insurance if dental insurance doesn't cover dental? Why tell the dentist you cover it then screw the customer?

Called asking Kim about dentist in network in my area. No she says he's not in our network when asking about a specific doctor. Only to find out after checking there website he is in network. Sounded like she wanted to get my call done and over with the whole time on the phone with her. Got no time to give me accurate info then you won't get my business. Really Delta dental. That's the best you can do.
I work for a dental office and EVERYTIME I call the reps are always rude or condescending and I'm tired of it. I try to be as polite as possible but I still get attitude from them. I would not recommend this insurance to any of my patients! Delta Dental of GA, CA and a handful of other states have great customer service. Seems like Iowa needs to learn from them.
Super bad experience. Their process is awful and their customer care didn't even make sense to exist. Just wish to influence our HR to change the carrier!
Customer service was rude on the phone. They do not cover needed procedures that are to save a tooth. I also grind my teeth and refuse to pay for a mouth guard that would prevent me from losing my teeth as well.
Monday Morning 10.8.18. Called Delta Dental to find out about charges from a new dentist that were considerably higher than what we paid at the previous dentist office. Wonderful Representative. She had exact answers to every one of the eight questions I had written down. She knew my policy. She knew the technical names of all the work listed on the Proposed Treatment. She knew how each treatment interrelated with other treatments. Although we are in Florida, she gave us the Maximum's that Iowa Dentist's could charge. What I read in some other reviews, was people wanted more coverage than was in the policy they were paying for. Not the case with us. We just wanted to know what coverage we had paid for compared to what the dentist was charging. Wow, great job, as I am older, and she was very patient in helping us understand. I would give her 6 out of 5 if I could.
This company is through my employer and when I have to go to dentist I get the list of what isn't covered on my insurance. It's sad that I already paying the cost biweekly plus the one time deductible and then more cost for the treatment. This is how these companies milk the American people out of the hard earn money. Sad put so true. I guess they don't care about the reviews on here. I'm not surprised either.
Nothing our providers recommend is covered - even when the plan says it is! On that one, Delta said "Woops - the website is wrong!" So, so disappointed. Total rip off
I've called in numerous times over the last few months due to an issue with a root canal and crown. Every time I have called in the CSR that I've spoken to has been friendly and helpful. In addition to this, I've received excellent coverage and assistance to cover the max amount of my expenses possible!
Chipped one of my front teeth on a fork when I was bumped into while eating. I had my chipped tooth repaired and the bill was sent to Delta. They didn't pay 1 cent. My dentist thought maybe it was a coding problem so they submitted it a second time. Delta again refused to pay anything. My dentist said they'd never seen an insurance company not cover this and referred to Delta as "garbage." Look elsewhere for your dental coverage or start a dental savings account. You'll be farther ahead paying yourself than these scammers.
Doesnt cover much. I need oral surgery and for some reason i didnt know i have the preventive coverage crap. Might have missed that when i went to an agent to buy dental insurance Mine litteraly just covers the cleaning every 6 months. I think i end up paying way more than what a cleaning costs smdh

Very helpful on the phone. The rep could have passed me onto another group but she asked the right questions and decided it was better to answer my question with what she had access to than to pass me off and waste my time. Holly did a great job today!
I called about finding a dentist near me and they were quick to send me an email with all my options.
