About De nationale denktank
De Nationale DenkTank: Bridging the Gap between Government, Science, and Business for a Better Society
Stichting de Nationale DenkTank is a Dutch non-profit organization that aims to bring together the government, science, and business sectors to address societal challenges in the Netherlands. The organization was founded in 2005 by a group of students who wanted to use their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on society.
The National Think Tank consists of around 20 young professionals from various academic backgrounds who work together for four months each year on a specific theme. The participants are selected through a rigorous selection process that includes interviews and assessments of their skills and motivation.
Each year, the National Think Tank selects a new theme that is relevant to Dutch society. The participants then conduct research on this theme by interviewing experts from various fields, conducting surveys among citizens, and analyzing data. Based on their findings, they develop innovative solutions that can be implemented by the government or businesses.
Some of the themes that have been addressed by the National Think Tank in recent years include sustainable energy transition, mental health care for young people, circular economy in cities, aging population in rural areas, and digitalization of education.
The National Think Tank's approach is unique because it brings together different stakeholders who may not normally collaborate with each other. By involving representatives from government agencies, universities, research institutes as well as businesses both large and small - they create an environment where ideas can be shared freely without fear of judgment or criticism.
One example of how the National Think Tank has made an impact is its work on sustainable energy transition. In 2018-2019 edition "Circulaire Economie" (Circular Economy), they developed several recommendations aimed at reducing waste production while promoting recycling initiatives across different industries such as construction materials or textiles manufacturing processes which were later adopted by companies like Philips Lighting BV & DSM Nederland B.V., among others.
Another example is the National Think Tank's work on mental health care for young people. In 2017-2018 edition "Van Wens Naar Werkelijkheid" (From Wish to Reality), they developed a platform called "MIND Young Academy" that provides online training and support for young people struggling with mental health issues. The platform has since been adopted by several Dutch municipalities and has helped thousands of young people.
The National Think Tank's work is not only innovative but also impactful. Their recommendations have been implemented by various organizations, including government agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations. They have also received recognition from various sources, including the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
In conclusion, Stichting de Nationale DenkTank is an organization that brings together bright minds from different backgrounds to address societal challenges in the Netherlands. Their unique approach of involving stakeholders from different sectors has led to innovative solutions that have made a positive impact on society. With their continued efforts towards bridging the gap between government, science, and business - we can expect more positive changes in the future!
