I found the place to be a testament to all the wasted resources, blood and treasure spent to clobber the commies into submission. God Bless America ! Love all the B-52's we cannablized for spare parts in order to keep the current 'BUFF's' in working order over the years

The Airplane graveyard outside of Tucson, Arizona,...

The Airplane graveyard outside of Tucson, Arizona, is situated on the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Also called The Boneyard, over 4,000 military aircraft are parked on the base to be used for parts and scrap metal. Bombers, cargo planes, fighter jets and more have been put to rest at this almost 2,600-acre site. Specific aircraft include Hercules freighters, A10 Thunderbolts and the F-14 Tomcat. Some of the planes date back to the Cold War and Vietnam War. The site was established for plane storage in 1946 after WWII. Tucson was chosen as the area has high altitude, low humidity, infrequent rainfall and hard alkaline soil. You can take guided tours of the area, or use Google Maps, which offers an excellent aerial view of the site!

The Davis-Monthan Aeres Base Cemetery offers a guided tour that must be booked in advance, but even without entering the base, the surrounding streets already offer good aircraft viewing points.

Here is a fighter lover!

But of course the bus guide will speak in English
If you are not good at English, bring a translator etc.
You might be able to enjoy it the best.

I was there. Finelly in my life a dream came true for me. I grew up around military aircraft and seeing this was a wonderful shock. I was a kid again. I was so happy the day I got to see all these giant planes in the hot desert like I wanted to for so many years. I never knew they were all HERE....in Tucson!!!! My boyfriend took me to see it and I was shocked it was here. I always thought the bonyards were in Nevada or New Mexico or something. I live in Tucson now and can go see them any time I wish. ...so happy!!!

Geez, I wish someone would write a real review and not their reaction. That doesn't help us at all here. Bryce's review is by far the most helpful. I would never had known I needed reservation 10 days out for a background check for the bus tour. I wonder how many people's days were ruined going there with high hopes just to be told you don't have a pass to board and now stuck to take "reduced" lot tour only. I'm going to visit within the following months, pretty excited about it. I'll post better detail that would help the next visitor.

Good

anyone interested in airplanes is a must in life, such as the pilgrimage to Mecca for an Islamic.
4000 military aircraft still in use, some to be cannibalized, others to be resold, others ready for rapid reuse. It is a military base (it is also remarkable to see the base inside), you only enter with a guided tour without getting off the bus

No idea if "civilians" would be able to see and appreciate the Boneyard, but what a groovy site to see (for this govt contractor). If you ever wondered where military aircraft go when they retire, this is one (of ?) place!

The world's largest airplane boneyard is only accessible to the public on tours conducted by the nearby Pima Air & Space Museum on weekdays (excluding holidays). The tours sell out, so make sure to get to the museum early to secure a spot.

Once on the tour, you are not allowed to get off the bus. However, the tour will take you all over the boneyard and you are allowed to take pictures.

There is nowhere else like this place- definitely visit if you can.

What a great tour of the Davis month in Air Force Base graveyard of US Air Force and other US military aircraft. The tour of the aircraft boneyard is made up of volunteers and former members of the United States military they give you the history of Davis month in Air Force Base aircraft boneyard. You will be totally impressed by the tour

Absolutely amazing to see so many, many military aircraft parked so lose together awaiting disassembly. If only they could talk... You must see this for yourself! Incredible and inspires memories in you of the brave airmen who flew these warplanes.
