The Design Hive team have been working with David Salisbury on a wide range of branding and design projects. We have seen their work first hand and the craftsmanship, care and passion that goes in to every tiny detail is second to none. They are extremely professional to work with and we can't wait to start their commercial brochure design this week. I would highly recommend their work to anyone.

We have just had a major refurbishment of our house including an Orangery created and built by David Salisbury. It is now Summer and we are enjoying being outside, inside. Beautiful craftsmanship and the process from start to finish was efficient. We were kept well informed on an ongoing basis and most importantly they came in on budget. Thank you.

Back when we were redeveloping the former George Hotel, to transform it into the beautiful Sopha furniture store it is today, we were looking for high quality wood timber sash windows to replace the tired looking single glazed ones and came across David Salisbury, a local company who could help us bring back the building to it s former glory. With its Georgian frontage David Salisbury had a huge reputation to live up to, which they instantly recognised was of great historic value to not only the building but to the community having been a big part of Highbridge s life and culture. With their success in working with period and listed buildings along with their fully bespoke joinery skills they were the ideal choice for us. The wood windows certainly finish off our building and the Sopha showroom displays beautifully. We cannot recommend David Salisbury enough and hope that they feel they have a beautiful showroom they can use to promote their windows that happens to be just down the road from their factory in Highbridge. We couldn't have found anyone better or more local to have done them for us and with such excellent service too. Thank you.

David Salisbury built an orangery extension to our house and this was completed at the end of 2018. Whilst we are happy with the end product we were surprised and disappointed that several problems occurred following the build.

Firstly we had an issue with part of the wood frame on the inside developing dark stains on the oak. We were informed that the wood was pre-treated before delivery so were surprised that this would happen. They came back and applied oxalic acid and these dark stains have now been removed.

Secondly we had rainwater leaking through one of the windows as these had not been sealed correctly. Also one window had to be replaced due to faulty double glazing.

Thirdly a section of the roof leading was blown off by wind and, at the time this was repaired, it was acknowledged that the section in question had not been secured correctly. It was fortunate that no damage occurred to the glass mansard.

Finally the orangery door was not closing properly and it required two visits to fix this properly.

Following the completion of the orangery it took several weeks to resolve the above issues to our satisfaction and certainly David Salisbury s claim that "the quality and finish is the envy of the industry" was not justified in our case.

Very disappointed as at least 10 defects reported from minor to major. Mistakes happen occasionally but if they are graciously admitted and speedily rectified at no cost that shows a responsible supplier. David Salisbury has not been gracious nor speedy. About half of the issues, after months of dispute, are promised to be rectified but 5 weeks on and no date suggested by them. The other issues are ongoing ...... Some images of examples below.

Spoilt by some poor Craftsmanship

Spoilt by some poor Craftsmanship

We bought an oak framed orangery some 10 x 5 metres to replace a Victorian style PVC conservatory, so the base was already in place. Our vision for the orangery was well translated into the design and construction commenced on time. We had visited the factory at Highbridge and had read all the literature given to us and on their website.

The frame is essentially made up of 20 oak columns, 14 of which were solid oak and the remaining 6 corner and door columns made from 2 pieces. The columns were supported within oak beams, top and bottom, forming 18 window frames and a French Door. With oak braces and an oak framed lantern the overall look is exactly what we wanted.

However, we were extremely disappointed to find the interior face of the 14 solid oak columns all contained 8 to 10 screw holes that were plugged with wood. Our initial thought was that the oak had been reclaimed as plugged screw holes are the hallmark of second-hand wood. However, David Salisbury confirmed that during manufacture screws are used to secure the oak firmly onto the milling machine and following the milling the screw holes are 'repaired' with wooden plugs. We were also disappointed that some of the 2 piece columns were made from oaks with entirely different hue and grain, resulting in a harsh finished appearance. David Salisbury admitted that the oak is selected solely for structural strength and no attempt is made to blend adjoining oaks.

We are disappointed that the general look of the orangery has been undermined by the poor wood craftsmanship. Wood craftsmen do not deface the wood surface with screws - there are other means of securing wood to the milling machine - and wood craftsmen blend adjoining timbers to soften transitions.

Their highly flattering promotion: "the quality and finish is the envy of the industry"; "never forgetting the heritage of one of the oldest building materials used in construction we erect buildings that are technically perfect"; "finest selected air dried, seasoned oak" convinced us that the product was the best money could buy. David Salisbury's response to our complaint is that the orangery is fit for purpose, a rather less eloquent description than that given in their sales literature.

We received a small discount for our disappointment. However, had we known about these shortcomings in craftsmanship we would not have bought the orangery from David Salisbury.

David Salisbury display the most beautiful inspiring indoor/outdoor spaces at The Chelsea Gardener. I was well impressed by their traditional orangery and contemporary garden room showrooms. I have recently attended to one of their networking events and had a good chat with their team. I shall definitely recommend them to my clients.

We have been a repeat customer of David Salisbury having bought a house in 2012 with an existing beautiful DS Orangery and wanting to match in other areas of the house, including the windows.

As a repeat customer, we have been very impressed with the quality of the products, the workmanship and in particular, their professional approach. Over a period of 5 years or so we now have 3 Orangeries, a porch and all our windows by DS and with each individual project they have been very easy to deal with each step of the way. They have provided us a very flexible service dependent upon what we needed at the time, from supply only to turnkey solutions. Where we have inevitably had the odd issue or snagging problem, DS have always been very receptive and keen to deal with whatever has come up as quickly as possible.

I am not one to write reviews but felt compelled to in this occasion. David Salisbury is a fantastic bespoke and design company of Orangeries and conservatories, and I am glad to have gained an insight of their work recently. They have a beautiful Orangery showroom at the Chelsea Garden, where I sometimes hold meetings, and an impressive manufacturer in Somerset. As someone who works on a variety of projects I was more than happy to recommend them. Their team is friendly and always willing to help. Well done guys!

AWARD-WINNING ORANGERIES & GARDEN ROOMS

AWARD-WINNING ORANGERIES & GARDEN ROOMS

I professionaly photographed for David Salisbury Joinery two award winning orangeries for advertising, company website and social media.
One structure was an old stone barn and the second home a stone manor house.
At each location the orangeries style complimented the period of the building, creating a classical extension to the house.
The roof lanterns are a lovely feature of an orangerie as they let in plenty of light, especially in the winter.
The joints windows and doors were beautifully designed and made.

I was also impressed by the sustainable footprint of the timber used in the award winning orangerie.

I was very impressed with the after care service provided by Ben. We had rain water coming into our doors following very bad weather. Ben went above and beyond to rectify the problem, approaching it from all angles. Hopefully it's all solved now, time will tell. So grateful to Ben and all David Salisbury staff for helping us with this issue.
