My husband was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor, he was told by our local hospital that he needed immediate surgery. He asked the attending neuro Doctor if perhaps he could be sent to a VA hospital. He was told there were one to two month waits to be admitted to the VA. He could not wait for his surgery. Our local hospital made some calls to the VA on a Saturday. Within 24 hours she had a bed and a surgical team standing by for him at David Grant. We have had nothing but the best care and treatment from the Doctors down to the volunteers at David Grant. He was transferred by medical ambulance and had his surgery. He is making a recovery from that and now we are just awaiting test results and other appointments with other Doctors. We felt we had been given a miracle to be excepted into David Grant on such a short notice. God Bless all the great teams at this medical center. Mrs. Darrell Smith

My review is from 2016 which my family still talks about mainly because we wished we had said something back then. I come from a family of nurses and the nurses there at the time were the least compassionate group I had encountered in a facility. My dad passed away a few weeks after his hospitalization and my sister and I recalled the nurse saying when we asked for a private room because his roommate was coughing constantly that if we were in a war he would be in a room with other people. Well, uh we weren t in a war. What kind of response is that? She also mentioned about how we should be grateful because everything is free. Very non therapeutic especially at a critical point of my father s life and my family s wellbeing. My father gave 20 years of his life to the Navy and to be told that while my father was in his last weeks is one of the things we remembered the most. I hope that if anyone reading this who works in the medical surgical floor to please remember that you should provide an environment of loving care and kindness. I think the staff needs to look at Jean Watson s theory of human caring and subscribe to the 10 Caritas process. If you don t know what they are look it up. I hope your staff learns from my experience....no one should ever feel like how we did. It hurt my family so much that we continue talking about it til this day.

Had two surgeries for BC. Mammogram dept above PAR. Dr. Bepko stands out for being a great Dr. Same day surgery staff exceptional (except one gal who missed my veins completely and gave me attitude when asking for another one. the other one didn't do a good job either, but was at least nice.) the worse part of the day was the WIV. the surgeons are outstanding. Dr. Choi was very patient and did a n excellent job rebuilding my breast. I think if you do surgery here, don't do it during Christmas time because the staff in same day surgery was FAR different my second time around. So for 2nd time around Jan 8, 2015.. 5 stars. and for some reason my review name is different.

Oral Maxillofacial Clinic

Oral Maxillofacial Clinic
My daughter got an infection from having her wisdom teeth removed. We couldn't wait for her dental office to open so we went to the ER and from the on call staff to the head of the clinic to the students was nothing but round the clock care and compassion. My husband was gone and they made sure to let me stay with her during the whole event. It was something i wouldn't wish to happen to anyone but I'm glad we had the OMF clinic to be there.

It seems like as with anything in life. You can please some of the people some of the time and all people some of the time but not all the people all of the time.
People feel they deserve more than they get and demand more than they deserve so there s never enough done. Sad world. All hospitals have the same issues different days. It s what s expected that creates objectivity.

Went there for the first time. Had shoulder surgery, done by Dr. Scortus who I believe is the very best. I feel blessed to have had him as my Doctor. The hospital is spotless, and all of the staff were awesome. I rate every aspect higher than any private hospital I have been to, and I never do reviews.

If you're not stationed at Travis and trying to contact the Warfighter Laser Refractive Center, and can't find a valid commercial phone number (I couldn't, anywhere), their DSN is 799-3166.

I haven't received treatment at DGMC yet, I just wanted to leave this info here in case anybody else has trouble getting in touch with the WLRC as I did.

This place is utter trash.

This place is utter trash.
Literally the worst medical facility in the ENTIRE Air Force.
Takes forever to get any appointments and when you finally get one, they give you the run around and make you set up another appointment because they don't feel like doing any work that day.

Hit or miss on medical providers at this facility...I've had excellent care and also been told by a doctor that "I'm active duty and I don't have time for you (during a scheduled appointment)." Probably the greatest example of government inefficiency, bureaucracy, and why a single-payer healthcare system should terrify all Americans.

I had my bariatric surgery done here a year ago. Was treated very well. I should have joined the Air Force. My only concern is that for blood draws and IV sticks you always get E-1 E-2 training on you. I het that they need to learn somehow but they always want to stick you in the hand instead of the arm and they never get it and it ends up in your arm anyway. Still I would go here for anything. I have had scheduling issues. Young airman will call you set a time then you get there and there like we dont have you in the system would you like to schedule an appointment? And I just drove 53 miles to get there. So in true Army fashion call schedule. Call back confirm. Then day of or day before reconfirm then get the name of the person you spoke to.

I am still currently a patient here, and I've never really been inclined to post a google review anywhere but it has felt needed. No, nothing is as perfect as one would prefer given the fact you simply aren't in your own home. But the care and compassion I've recieved thus far has been beyond exceptional. My care team has went above and beyond in helping me and I'm so thankful to be here after being in a Sutter hospital for a week and transferred here. I've been provided more answers and explanations in general. Thank you DGMC for your kindness, compassion, knowledge and hospitality.

Have been coming here for 20+ years with mostly positive experiences. Current PCM, Major Mendoza, is the best I have had. Staff are always professional. Only negative would be the pharmacy wait times. At times, your visit may be a training opportunity for others. Please allow them to learn through you.

The WORST hospital I have ever, ever, EVER, been to.

While being a patient at this hospital, I was pregnant more than ten times before having a successful birth.

That first and only successful pregnancy I had as a patient at this hospital, came after REFUSING NEARLY ALL care from this hospital. I allowed only the following: a blood test that proved pregnancy, I allowed two ABDOMINAL ultrasounds (denied all transvaginal ultrasounds), and I allowed the "glucose test".

I told the hospital I was in labor, every day for five days. Each day, they said I was WRONG and that I just dont recognize labor. Each of these days I went in, NOT ONCE did they check me for dialation. Oh, and I was ONE WEEEEEEK, a WHOLE WEEK past my due date. One of those days, they offered to give me intravenous sleeping medication. I agreed bc I hadn't slept from the pain. I called back about two hours later asking why this sleeping medication hadn't kicked in yet, and the nurse said, "I need you to come in, I cannot discuss this over the phone" (probably bc they record phone calls and didnt want to be recorded admitting what I was told when I drove back as asked: "i dont know who told you they were giving you sleeping medication... do you have allergies that need treating for some reason?" I said no. She continues, "well your chart says you were given intravenous antihistamines.... do you know why they would do that?" I was so livid.. not only did I not get a sleeping aide, I was in added pain down my entire leg and radiating around my thigh where the injection site was.

Finally day five of going in, they said something about "I dont know why you're back, you know we cant do anything for ya, and you know we'll just send ya home."

I said, "check my cervix at least? Please? I am in so much pain I think I am going to die. If you check my cervix, I'll go home."

They check me. I was 7 cm dialated and 80-something percent effaced.

I had ZERO medical care for the baby after that, and just delivered her in my bedroom. . . Wasnt worth the stress and deceit from the hospital staff here.

Took my wife to the ER due to vomiting blood. We were seen quickly and had all the needed tests and care quickly. The ER is modern, and Dr. Nelles was very good. All our follow-up appointments were arranged, and everything was explained well. We were pleased.

The personnel here at David Grant Medical Center are beyond superior. From the doctors, nurses and meds techs they go above and beyond in caring for their patients. I have had 4 surgeries over the last fuel months for breast cancer. During these surgeries and stays I have felt that they have cared not just for my medical needs but for my emotional needs as well. I feel blessed to have this facility and it's staff to care for me.

Hospitalized here 3x and just now realized how low their score on here is. Just here to give my 2 cents on why 5 stars should be their real rating.

-Place is VERY clean and well kept.
-Food is decent if you order the right meals.
-Staff is respectful and down for some good well timed dark humor.

I would like to personally thank major Philip Perry for the surgery he performed on myself. The staff at the hospital were great. All in all it was a great experience. Although I hope it my last surgery.

This is by far the worst Military Hospital I have ever set foot in.My primary care doctor never returns my phone calls, she never has appoinments and the appointments I do get are sub standard care and are always rushed. I will be so glad to leave this station.

I love the care here, lots of respect, smiles, and professional (military) bearing. I think (active duty/open base) providers are far superior than any other facilities. Even currently active-duty providers who are serving/working at a VA hospital or clinic. Same training, hell, same provider, different facilities...BIG differences!
