On 4th October 2016 I visited Keswick.
I have never seen as many dogs in a tourist destination, nor indeed anywhere, in my life.
I could not walk between the bus station to the lake, and back, without experiencing the obstacle course of dogs on leads and off leads.
When on leads the dogs walk away from their owners; on extended leads, I had to stop to allow the owners to walk across my path to be near to their dogs to enable me to walk around them; on short leads I had to walk around them. In one instance a woman had two dogs on short leads, one in each hand. I was unable to walk on the footpath and moved into a shop doorway to allow them to pass. I did not go into a public house because there are notices outside saying 'Dogs are welcome'. Even on twitter there is a photo of a dog in the Keswick section.

In my opinion, Keswick is a 'Holiday Camp for Dogs'. I shall not be visiting Keswick again.
