Crystal Lake Diner Review

The new location of an old favorite that is closer to where I live. Life is good.

There were 4 of us who went here and the inside seemed clean, which was good. Not very crowded as were here at around 2pm on Saturday and we were expecting it to be busier. That should have been our first clue. We pulled in to the parking lot and there were only 2 cars in the whole lot (and trying to leave out of that parking lot is a nightmare, it was like a vertical slope!) I used the bathroom and there was no soap to wash my hands with. The hand pump on the wall was completely empty. The bathroom seemed somewhat clean. We ordered coconut shrimp, a Greek salad, chicken croquettes, and a steak. I personally ordered the coconut shrimp. The shrimp were dry which is why I was excited for the spicy sauce that came with it. However the spicy Sauce seemed nothing more than ketchup with a kick. So disappointed. No one else in my party loved their food either, everyone had something negative to say. Even for diner food, it was lack luster, which is bad. The waiter we had was great, attentive, and showed personality. He warmed me that the ketchup concoction that came with the coconut shrimp would be spicy, but it wasn't. At least not for me. 2 of us also ordered dessert, which I did not get pics of. I ordered the Oreo cheesecake. All 3 sides of the cheesecake had a freezer burn taste to it. If it was fresh I'm sure it would have been good. Once you got past the layers of stale refrigerator smelling taste of the outside, it actually had a flavorful, creamy center. And not to be too descriptive, but I had a terrible stomach ache less than an hour after we left. And I sadly I was in the bathroom for a while. Besides the nice waiter, there would be no reason for us to go back here.

Went there for dinner with my daughter the food was What is great !! The service was great too very friendly people !! And the prices are reasonable ! Update unfortunately Crystal Lake diner is no more. But the good news is that the Westmont diner will be taking over they have great food to ! It says three weeks ago that s wrong it was like two years ago !

Very good, I posted for westmont diner by mistake it was supposed to be for crystal lake.

Was greater by a very friendly employee who showed us to a booth and gave us our menus. A waitress came right over to take our drink order. When she came back with our drinks she gave us the specials of the day. Both my son and I have many food allergies. The waitress was very sweet and helpful with our never ending questions. She even brought out ingredient lists for products. The food was very good and took our left overs home. When we went to pay the bill we found out that you can buy the soup of the day as take out. Which will come in handy during the cold winter months. The food was good, it caters to people with food issues and the staff was friendly and nice.

Awesome food. Great friendly management. Unique food items. Really is a good place to check out.

Pretty sure they are closed for good. Even tho online says open. Went there and sign says closed because of outbreak..will be back. But no way. Theyd at least offer take out now. No way theyre closed by choice. Think they filed for bankruptcy back in Nov..too bad. USED to be a GREAT PLACE..

The place serves big dishes and for fair prices. super nice staff members. 5 stars.
