OK, sit down. You're going to need to for what I'm about to tell you. The sparknotes is stay away, stay far away from the Cox College School of Nursing. The program director, Kris Williams, should be ashamed of the lack of professionalism and quality that this school displays.
I was an out of state student at the ND-DI program at the Cox College School of Nursing. First of all, let me tell you that the school harps on ND-DI students like they are third-rate citizens, while praising their MS students at the same time. This is the definition of you pay what you get. If you pay for a MS, then you'll get respected, treated well and score automatic As. If you're just an out of towner in the ND-DI, be prepared to get pushed to the ground and walked over (mentally, not physical though I wouldn't be surprised).
I was given strong promises from Kris Williams prior to me joining the program and about what I'd learn during my session there. I was then told half way during my time that they could "not fulfill our promises" because of a lack of funding. They even recruited all the students to act as collection agency reps to push other students to pay their tuition.
The school openly hates (strong word) the American Heart Association and believes every policy, guideline and decision is wrong and should not be followed. Basically the college teaches you that "hammies and doggies" (hamburgers and hot dogs) are actually good for you and belong in the bottom section of the food pyramid. And news flash Kris Williams, they got rid of the food pyramid 10+ years ago. Wake up!
And then the last day of my program just when I was excited to be graduating, instead of a congratulations, I got letter that looked like the FBI wrote it saying that I was required to pass the RD exam on the first try and to not even bother to try if I wasn't going to pass. Why the Federal Government-style statement? Because their pass rates are so low that this school is basically about to close.
So bottom-line, if you want to come to the Cox College of Nursing - don't. It is a waste of money, the program director doesn't respond to emails or calls (too good?). Oh, and the library is non-existent. Their library is about as good as a Borders and Barnes and Nobles....because the library doesn't exist and neither does Borders or Barnes and Nobles. The only good thing at the school was the coffee at the "The Gerny Coffee Shop", which their sunset chai AHA latte was quite good.
