The gaffer district is beautiful and there is a little something for anyone.
We had a great time in Corning... The race was great. Hope to come back soon.
It's modern Americana. Live performances (usually music) in the town square on many summer evenings (usually Thursdays) and all that. See the Corning NY Gaffer District web site for details and the current schedule.
Very clean, pedestrian friendly area with a mixture of small business and artistic venues such as glass art and museums. I plan to return for another visit soon.
It's an okay place. Little town feel. One thing I noticed that people were not friendly. We stayed for a day. From the time we arrived/ checked into the hotel to the last place where we ate and everything in between, not a single person smiled. Was a little weird.
Great town with pleanty of variety of eateries , shopping and walking paths.
Very beautiful area. Although there is not many places to shop or eat in the area
Great place to visit. Lots of cool shops. Was on a bus tour at Corning Glass & walked over for a beer & a burger. Will return another time
Scenic, picturesque, cozy. What more could you ask for. I felt transported back to a quieter time, and there was plenty to do and see.
Great variety, good prices, generally friendly shopkeeps. Only experienced rude employees at Aniellos. Won't revisit. Customer service got angry about us asking questions.
Fun place to go. Lots of eating places to choose from. Good street entertainment.
Glassfest is always fun. Good eats ( funnel cake yum) and great exhibits. I always end up buying xmas presents because they are so unique. In June I head to Italy to visit relatives and bought some small gifts that would be one of a kind. Missed the music due to rain, but got to see the fireworks from my back deck. They were really good this year.
Nice community area where you may be able to catch a farmer's market or make your own picnic. Good place to stop between NYC and Niagara. If you have time on your trip go to the glass museum
Corning is our home town and we return at least once a year from Florida. Miss that hometown feel Corning's Gaffer District offers.
Corning was loads of fun. Making our own glass projects was a wonderful experience
Went during a fall festival. So many great sights and experiences. Very special for someone from the suburbs. Interesting stores and restaurants. Festival had live music, street vendors, and attractions like tractors and animal booths.
Corning likes to think a lot about itself, but it's slowly becoming an extension of elmira with the drugs, Meth lab explosions and inept law enforcement.
It's a false front, do not visit here, museum of glass is nothing anymore, no jobs, overpriced housing ....
Plenty of other nice places to go in America.
I've lived in or near Corning most of my life, up until almost 4 years ago. It has always been a great place to live and explore. This is ecspecially true during the holiday seasons. Most of the shows, events or festivals are typically family oriented, Sparkle being hands down mine and my families favorite festival turned tradition, is no exception. Sparkle is held every December & is put on by Market Street & Gaffer Districs Vendors. A might where love & laughter is endless and happiness & kindness are second nature. .Market St comes alive more than ever and it's filled with more holiday spirit than anyone could ask for. Excited to see what's in-store for 'Sparkle' this year.
Nice restaurants and shops, many of them unique. Hard to decide where to eat!
Love the architecture of this few blocks, stores are really cute and the food was great
Love this city beautiful and relaxing place to visit. The restaurants are unique and have delicious menus
Corning is such an historical community. The Gaffer district is full of wonderful gift shops, art galleries, coffee/tea houses, restaurants, museums, theater and a centrally located park. There is parking (for a fee) behind many of the stores along Dennison Parkway and if your lucky enough you can find a free parking space along historic Market Street. I love the city of Corning. It's clean and there is much to see and do.
What a wonderful place to spend a weekend
Great food and entertainment . I highly recommend this place.
Was there on a Sunday. A lot of stores were closed. There were also a lot of empty storefronts.
There are two downtowns in our area that can take you back to the time. The fist is Corning's Gaffer District and the second is downtown Wellsboro, PA. The Gaffer District includes Market and Bridge Streets in downtown Corning. However, since the majority of activity happens on Market Street, this review will center on Market Street.
The merchants and Corning Incorporated do a lot for this small town, and it shows everywhere you look. Small businesses are king in the Gaffer District, from the many full-service restaurants to the retail establishments selling high-end handbags or olive oils, there's something for everyone on Market Street. There are even a few businesses that leave water bowls out for your dog. You have shops like Van Heusen, Bass Shoes, Conner's Mercantile or The Source and restaurants like Aniello's, The Gaffer, Atlas Brick Oven Pizza, and The Source Factory Number 2, Subway, and Tony R's.
There are some events throughout the year that are worth attending.
The area is missing universal free Wi-Fi, but many of the shops do offer access.
Lots of restaurants and glass stores. Good shopping.
Great for walking window shopping dining gift buying hair cuts even a place to drink wine and paint
This is an amazing place to spend the day! Great restaurants and shopping.... You won't be disappointed!
Cute shopping and walking area. There is a lot of places to take nice pictures. Sometimes it gets very busy and it s hard to find parking
I loved this downtown.Amazing shops, plenty of parking, great food. Had a very nice old town kind of feel to it. Shops for a wide selection of tastes. They have a beautiful park behind the main street as well.
This is a very beautiful & peaceful place, sure to calm your nerves. We went on the labor day weekend but still it wasn't much crowded. Little place with lots of eatries & pubs. Lots of shops are closed due to covid but the ones open are managing well with the outdoor dining. Currently you will get free parking too just at the entrance of the market street. Amazing place for relaxing and rejuvenating yourself
Ghost town on Sunday afternoon with many of the local shops closed and social distancing. But clean and nice feel. Nice to see the roads closed and lots of outdoor seating
A beautiful wonderful place to visit. Everyone is always so friendly. A stroll in the Gaffer District awakens all your senses. With amazing food, beautiful architecture, delightful shops and a sense that time moves a little slower so you may absorb life as it should be.
Excellent shopping area with an abundance of character. Restaurants and coffee shops on every block. Nice shops with stores with helpful staff. Would definitely recommend to any visitors
