One of the best place we ve visited during our trip to Cork. I would recommend getting warm clothes because there could be cold inside rocky walls.
It was very pleasant to find some guides in Russian (and many more languages)! We have been in many places around the island but this is the first one which has Russian in their guides. Thanks a lot, very thoughtful.

The Gaol is an amazing attraction! An old prison turned museum, it has been preserved well over the last two centuries and has a lot of content to see and hear. It's very interactive too, as it has games all over and a set of friendly and helpful staff that really help make the experience a lot more pleasant. This place works well for coming in alone or with friends and family. There's a quaint gift shop too with a lot of good stuff in there, I personally chose to go with the local chocolates and wall hangings.

Really nice experience that I recommend to anyone visiting Cork. This would be especially great on a rainy day where you are looking for something to do indoors. You can rent the audio guide, or save yourself some euro and read through the info yourself (they provide you with a great map with all the info along the tour for free).

Very well-made museum, which is worth a visit.

Very well-made museum, which is worth a visit.
A lot of information about a cruel part of history is given. Some personal stories make it really realistic.
The entrance fee is appropriate.

You can discover a lot of things about what happened in the last two centuries and you can also have a lovely tour around the beautiful building. Everything is clear and well-organized, so you can easily do your own visit without the guide. I would come back again, because my experience was amazing! The price is quite cheap (10,50 adult - 8,50 student/senior - 6 children under 18) and I recommend it to everyone who is going to Cork. The guided tour start every 30 minutes.

A great touristy stop in Cork. The historical interpretation is really well done. You really get a feel for what life was like in the jail (gaol). Parking is easy and free. Arrive late on the day for lighter crowds and plan on at least an hour and a half to enjoy your jail experience.
