Convoy flashlights are solid, but I prefer the rubber button over the metal one for easier operation. I’m planning to get the S2+ with the rubber buttons. It’s great that they offer illuminated options, especially in blue. I replaced the 300 ohm resistors with 1.5 kOhms to extend battery life significantly, making it last well over a year. Plus, the beam is bright enough to spot easily in the dark.

I ordered the M21H in MAO finish with the 5700K XHP70.3 HI LED, and the quality-to-price ratio is outstanding. The light output is bright yet retains a pleasing color tone, offering a useful throw of around 60-70 meters with good spill. It sits comfortably between a typical EDC and a dedicated launcher, making it a versatile tool with surprisingly good color rendering for its Kelvin temperature. If there’s room for improvement, it’s in the user interface. The moonlight mode is surprisingly bright for a moonlight setting, and the ramp mode feels inconsistent—it lingers too long in lower modes before speeding up in high. I prefer the more logical step-by-step mode. Additionally, the tail button is quite sensitive, which makes cycling through clicky modes a bit fiddly and prone to errors. The MAO anodizing is slightly darker than expected but has a lovely texture. Despite these minor quirks, it’s a fantastic flashlight for the money.
