Our experience with Conquest One via Apexx Medical (all the same) has been devastating. This company has many sister companies including ClearVet and Leading Edge Vet as well. We purchased a $52,000 new x-ray machine from them in early 2013 and it has been plagued with problems ever since. Our generator (the main part of the machine) had to be replaced in 2014 (after one year), only to still not work correctly. We were down over 4 weeks. On an ongoing basis, over 90% of our exposures, we get an error and black image and have to retake it. The average down time for our x-ray machine is 6 weeks before we can seem to get it resolved. Currently, our X-ray machine has been down 4 weeks and we have paid an outside technician to come out 4 times to work with ClearVet over the phone to work on our X-ray. ClearVet has sent us 5 different parts to try to plug in to see if the x-ray will work. They don't work. Our machine is under warranty until October 2017 and ClearVet won't help us get our machine back up and running. ClearVet's customer service is unresponsive and their Director of Operations, Karen, is extremely rude. Given that it is a small company, we asked to speak to the CEO, Mr. Drew Blackstone, to try to workout the problem because Karen was disrespectful to us. Mr. Blackstone never attempted to reach out to us despite us asking many times. Karen said that we could reach him through legal counsel. The company does not take accountability for their machines. To make matters worse, they have "limited" technicians that know how to fix their machines and it can take months to get a technician out to help, yet they threaten your warranty if you want to bring in an outside company. An outside company needed an X-ray schematic from ClearVet to fix their machine. This was explained to me as a road map to the machines inner workings and described to me as standard for each x-ray machine. ClearVet did not have a schematic and this outside technician was unable to fix our machine. We have been down 4 weeks currently and 3 months ago we were down 3 weeks. After all of our problems and as a result of ClearVet's lack of knowledge to fix their machines and their poor customer service, we asked them to please buy the machine back for a fair buy back price. We felt that the fair resolution was for them to buy it back and although we would lose a large amount of money given that we have had the x-ray less than 4 years, we wanted to purchase another x-ray machine from another company. ClearVet said that they are not in the business of buying back and said that they will only discuss future matters with us through their legal counsel. ClearVet told us or one option was to sell it on consignment, but ethically, we could not do that to another veterinary practice. The machine is broken more than it is working despite having it fixed numerous times over the 3 years we have had it. We would not compromise on our ethics and could not do that to other veterinarians out there. We have decided to purchase a new x-ray machine, taking a huge financial loss, given that we are a small two doctor practice. It is vital to our patients for us to have a working x-ray machine.
Before you purchase from Apexx, make sure you do your homework and research reviews, pricing and customer service first.. We were building a new veterinary clinic and had a very bad experience with having anyone contact us back without repeatedly having to call and ask talk with someone. Also we purchased our equipment 3 months before moving in our new clinic so did not start using our new equipment until October and in February one of our items quit working and in order for us to get a replacement we would have to ship in and pay for shipping, pay in advance for a replacement until they could inspect item for neglect or misuse. Said we had to do this because we had our equipment for over 3 months even though we had a 3 year warranty on the product. So we did not send it in we went to Walmart got the same item at 50% less than what Apexx charged us and at Walmart you can exchange anytime no questions asked. Will not use or recommend again.
Conquest One is owned by Drew Blackstone. He owns Conquest One which is an umbrella company for ImageWork Veterinary, apexx Veterinary Equipmet, Leading Edge Veterinary Equipment and ClearVet. He is extremely unethical in every aspect of business, from not paying former employees their last paychecks or commissions to not paying vendors and being shady with Veterinarians. I could go on and on about how unethical he is and I saw it first hand as a former employee. I stayed for a little more than a year and I can't believe I stayed that long. He is verbally abusive, he restricted my movement. We weren't allowed to talk to each other. He wouldn't let us say " how are you". The worst in micro management I have ever seen. I am surprised he is still in business because of the way he treats his employees. He was even heard calling a Hispanic employee "his little bean". Another reason I can't believe he is still in business is because he doesn't pay his vendors. One of the service technicians that we sent to fix equipment waited 3 months and then had to threaten to go to the clinic and let them know he wasn't paid for his service. One time a humane society ordered a certain machine but we didn't have it so he sent a different model and they didn't like it and sent it back, he charged them a restocking fee, even though it wasn't what they ordered. They had to dispute the charge through their bank to get the refund.
