I never met a museum I didn't love but there is something extra special about a museum that teaches us about the very place the museum exists. The CT River Museum does such an amazing job captivating you while telling you things you never knew about this wonderful state and our storied history in building this country. From Shipbuilding, to defense against the British invaders to Whaling and everything CT, you must visit this museum and learn why one of America's smallest states has the biggest heart and the oldest memories and of course one of the world's most important rivers. Fantastic!
They have some fun things. The train exhibit was small a nice thing to do with the family. Best for ages 4+.
Cute museum with terrific exhibits. From Thanksgiving to Christmas there is a fantastic train show as well.
It is very nice water view is pretty inside very nice
I love visiting local museums and this one is beautifully kept and full of stories i did not know about. The lady who works the front desk is a treasure. The town of Essex is a beauty that everyone should visit when given the chance. And again and again.
Interesting, good exhibits--well worth a visit. But insufficient coverage of the roles of Native Americans and women--very traditional historical perspective that lacked diversity and inclusivity.
Great museum with amazing miniature train set that my 3 year old loved. Cool replicas of various boats too. Definitely worth a visit with or without kids.
Really enjoyed visiting the museum, and went on the sailboat tour of the Connecticut River. Awesome I would recommend that for everyone
Nice place with good history of the Connecticut river valley and the mouth of the river area. Nice spot also for viewing the river.
