Small charming and cozy village. Located step by step on the slope of the mountain at the foot of the Christ of San Biagio. It is traveled on foot in a few minutes. It has more churches per square meter than Rome. To go to the Christ of San Biagio is only by car, motorcycle or bicycle for the strongest

Maratea is a wonderful village, kissed by the sun ...

Maratea is a wonderful village, kissed by the sun and the Tyrrhenian Sea, in an absolutely panoramic position with the Apennines that surround it and form a natural amphitheater of rare beauty. The village is also beautiful, a small favor, you can visit it in a short time but it is worthwhile. However, there are some aspects to improve: first of all, arriving by car is not easy. The village is a favor, but if you go into the alleys there are several little cared for corners. Inside the historic center there is no sign indicating how to reach the various places of interest (you are the town of the 44 churches, give us the chance to find them ). By improving these few aspects Maratea will be unbeatable!

Maratea has just over 5000 inhabitants, overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea, is rich in picturesque landscapes and is nicknamed "the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
What can I say, I found myself well above all for the great welcoming spirit of the people of this place
RECOMMENDED!

We came to Maratea in search of my partner's ancestors and also for a short vacation. At the tourist office of the town hall and at the registry, we were treated very kindly and we got the date of birth of my partner's great-grandfather. Filippo Panza Maimone, born in Maratea in 1889. He emigrated to Spain, where he married and had a family. We still need to know if he left behind in Maratea a brother or sister who had offspring.
Maratea is a place full of history and magic. Beautiful and charming.
A must stop in Basilicata

Very characteristic and cute town perched in a panoramic position. It should be cared for a little more and served better on the way from the station to the statue of Christ the Redeemer.

No shuttle to go to Christ and we are on July 14th. On indications we have been told that the connection will begin-maybe- in a few days. In general the place is wonderful, but these shortcomings may not be interpreted well by everyone, especially by tourists loaded many times with preconceptions that can be confirmed in these shortcomings

Characteristic town located in very beautiful places. The small beaches are enchanting but almost all are paid and parking near the sea costs from 5 to 8 euros per day. Unfortunately, the degree of civilization of the inhabitants is in line with the vast majority of Italians, therefore very uncivilized.

Unfortunately I have not taken pictures of this wonderful town of Basilicata, Maratea, but I can assure you that the center is wonderful. There is a fountain in the center of the main square and if you enter the alleys there are magnificent shops to satisfy tourists. Definitely a place to visit

Beautiful Maratea and its coast, but no more concessions to private individuals and pseudo hotels and other structures that close access to the beaches: the beaches belong to everyone and the municipality of Marateota must be guarantor of this right and that's it ... see the Anginarra more and more in concession to a hotel that is slowly taking over the entire beach and forbidding the passage on the shoreline to tourists who have to reach the free stretch of beach, shameful to say the least. Not to mention Illicini completely forbidden and other beaches that despite being very small, are given as a concession to private individuals.

Maratea is the only town in Basilicata overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, and made up of many hamlets, one more beautiful than the other. The views are breathtaking, from the beaches to the old port and the historic village. Do not miss the visit to Christ the Redeemer.
