There is nothing good about this school. Please don't make your children go through such a horrible experience
CCSC is a place where parents send children that are struggling academically, behaviorally, or both. I must say I am thoroughly impressed with the help they provide to each individual scholar. That being granted there behavioral system is extremely flawed. The way I saw it was CCSC was training you for jail. There is a three strike policy when it comes to one out of the three detentions. They run on a merit and demerit system. If you are to get three demerits in a day you have to stay for an hour after school to serve your detention in a dead silent room where almost everyone day dreams. I do believe the homework detentions are not as bad as they show you need to complete your homework. Then there are behavior detentions. These are for acts like talking back to your teacher. I give that example because the amount I have seen talking back is insane. People are not as much arguing but advocating for them selves for when they get a punishment thats not deserved. There are also Saturday detentions. Young men and woman have to serve these if they have skipped a single week day detention or if they have a certain amount of detentions. I think have children sit in a room for hour(s) is absurd and frankly there would be less issues if people were not getting penalized for small little acts like talking to a peer or getting out of there chair. This leads to disagreement then bam an hour of your day taken to sit in a room in silence during after school hours. Ive talked to many teachers who hate giving these children punishments but its there job. Its really sad. I had to leave the school because I was struggling with behavior issues that led to my teachers kicking me out of class each period to go the deans office there for I was not learning anything. A lot of the time all I did was talk but since I was on the wrong side of there radar I was sent out. If your child doesn't have any learning or behavioral differences then sure try this school out. But if your child cant sit still and will get penalized for certain tiny things don't make the mistake of sending them here. I look back and see how long the periods are with no recess and just hard work from 8-4. Im so much happier at my school currently and really just makes me look back and wonder how I survived CCSC. But with all that negative feed back I give them two stars because they do help a lot with academics, if your going to a community college. My sibling has graduated and goes go a prestigious college in New England and looks back on how CCSC helped her get in but she was not nearly as prepared as others. Send your child to this school if your certain they will make it.
This school is terrible. Mean teachers and unfair consequence system
This is my school and I think that helps me so much
My son started the summer academy on July 5th and up until today, had no complaints and liked all of the staff and teachers. I stopped by the school yesterday and spoke with Me. Taps, she must have been having a bad day because she was rude. Today I pick up my son a little later trhan usual and found him outside the school unsupervised. He told me that Ms.Taps said he had to leave and that he couldn't have a lunch and water. I was furious as you can imagine not only because she refused him the lunch that I had paid for at the beginni by of the program, but because she told him he had to leave and didn't give him even a water bottle. It was nearly 90 degrees outside today and this was mid afternoon around 1:30pm. When I went inside the school to speak to someone about it the lady at the front desk said she was the supervisor, and basically made excuses for why Ms. Taps didn't give my son the lunch he was supposed to get. When my son tried to explain the situation she proceeded to tell him not to interrupt her. I told her that I didn't need for her to make excuses for the her, and she threw herself back into her chair as if throwing a tantrum. You can imagine my shock at her level of professionalism. I paid for my child to receive a lunch and supervision between the school and another program. My son was denied his lunch and water and theres no doubt that the lunch went in the trash because my son had already opened it. Luckily, I spoke with another lady who was very professional and didn't dismiss my concerns as easily as the supervisor had. My son will not be attending CCSC at the end of August, I can't send my 11 year old to a school that will punish him for any disagreement that the staff has with the parents. I really hope that they find a way to train these two staff members before they let another child starve and go thirsty when they have food available.
