I'm getting close to my Master of Science now, and this is a very good program. It is not easy, you watch lectures given on campus, and are given the same assignments and exams as the students in the on campus course. It's rather difficult that you aren't in class to ask questions of the professor, but you can send him or her e-mails or call them. I have also gone up to New York and physically attended the classes and met with the professors.
There is no difference in degrees that you get from Columbia either on line or in residence, which is another plus. The biggest issue is you have to organize your time and not allow yourself to fall behind in the lectures. Also, getting assignments done can be very hard since you don't have the ability to get with other students and work problems together. So, getting an online degree from here is harder than in residence, but it's worth it.
