Very nice place, nice building and stroll in the small park and you will meet cute little squirrels
I mean it s a good open air homeless shelter from this building to the library
The free tour is a great experience. The view from the gold dome up top is amazing.
The state capital is one is the most distinctive buildings in the Denver skyline.
One of the most gorgeous buildings in all of Denver. It sits on a hill right next to downtown, and has amazing architecture! Definitely worth a visit!
Beautiful building and so many interesting rooms. While touring the Capitol building, it's hard not noticing how many tax dollars were spent on this palace. Get past that fact, this place is quite interesting.
The HVAC ducts could use a deep cleaning as we felt the air quality was not so good inside after spending an hour walking around. We are active and healthy, wonder how employees feel after a few months or decades working in this building.
Fun, historic, interesting, and free. Explore on your own or take the guided tours. Go up in the dome and step out for a remarkable 360 view of downtown Denver. Great historical site with amazing architecture. Fun for the whole family and again .. it's free!
Had a great time visiting Colorado. State Capitol is beautiful.
Denver, you really need to clean up your city, the roads and traffic are horrible and homeless people everywhere. I don't know why anyone would want to move here.
Excellent staff and beautiful history! Real gold on the roof!!
Gated and access restricted to vehicles you can park a few blocks down and walk also paid parking by the library and walk over.
Absolutely beautiful and enriching building on the history of Denver and the region for any visitor.
French friends, if you are in Denver, you must visit this place! Free. The more you climb the floors, the more beautiful.
Its a nice building. Directly next to Civic Center Park. The mile high step is marked with a small plaque. The only bad thing was that there were a lot of homeless people hanging around the park and made it hard to get good pics. That's not something I wanna see in my photos looking bacl at my visit to Denver's capital.
We have visited 28 capitol buildings in the past three summers and this is one of the most beautiful!
Amazing place to vist or work. Really makes you feel special when you walk in and look up into the dome. The history alone can make you weak in the knees.
Very nice building, much history, can walk to very top of dome, can see pikes peak from top, not best part of town though
Great building, built entirely with Colorado materials. A true example of a Capitol built with love for the state and the city. If you also get a special place in a completely booked tour by a very passionate guide, then it can't go wrong. Great experience, great tour and heard lots of interesting facts about the building, Colorado and Denver.
Went with a large group of family, including a couple small kids, and everyone very much enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide was extremely passionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He kept us a bit longer than "scheduled," but we were grateful to learn more. The views from the top are stunning. A must in downtown Denver.
Facing the capitol, the left wing of the building is under renovation when I took this picture (July 07, 2017).
No matter where you are coming into Denver from this beautiful piece of history is worth a visit.
You can be a "Mile High" if you climb the front steps and get to the step "5280 feet above sea level." That is why Denver is called the "Mile High City."
Amazing architecture. Had to grab the mile high pic.
The Colorado State Capitol Building is a beautiful architectural site to see and tour anytime of the year. The rich history of the state is showcased very well throughout the grounds and building as well as the museum.
Beautiful area with vast views of Denver. There are a significant number of homeless people just feet away from the steps and the area is somewhat unsafe.
Great place to come visit and learn about the capitol of Colorado. Very nice and friendly staff.
A must if you come to Denver, CO.
Such a cool stop if you're downtown! It was a little difficult to find the "One mile above sea level" step, but we found it! Really neat, and just nice to say you stood a mile above sea level.
The structure is beautiful. The rotunda is stunning. An upper level has paintings of the governors of Colorado. The memorable feature is the "Mile High" engraved marker on the front steps depicting a mile above sea level.
Awesome place! Beautiful capital building. Felt like I was on a field trip in 8th grade!
It was a great experience to visit this place. The tour was free and the guide was enthusiastic. The building is beautiful and the history is very interesting.
Interesting, but I felt the staff could have been helpful in finding the "tourist" parts of the building rather than the legislative offices.
Always take my friends from other states here when they visit me.
Love the history of the building! If you wanna know what it is, you should come and visit here yourself! There is a free tour available here. Or you can definitely Google it hahahahaha ;)
I really enjoyed the visit! A typical American capitol, the view is beautiful and the public buildings next door are amazing too! I highly recommend to anyone visiting Denver State Capitol, it is well worth it and you can take really cool photos, walk around downtown denver and get to know the city
I've never seen the inside but the view from outside tells it all. I give it a rate of five to the gold dome. up .
Actually really enjoyed sitting here. The view was lovely.
During my Amtrak tour, my hotel is only blocks away from Civic Center. When I visited state Capitol, it is under renovation. So, it is not in her perfect look, however, I still can see the mile high marker in the stairway to witness why Denver is called a "mile high" city.
Usually only come here in summer and at Christmas for their awesome lights. Here today and the wife took a good pic, must share. Got to love Denver.
Tours of the Colorado state capitals are free and you get 360 degree views of the city from the top of the state capitol. We really enjoyed this tour and also grabbed a bite at food trucks in the civic park across the capitol building (officially known as Civic Center EATS, Tue Wed and Thur from April 30 to Oct. 10). The state capitol is only 10 mins walk from the Denver Mint so its a good place to kill time before your Denver Mint tour
1st time back & Meet Senator Williams who immediately addressed my concerns of UNINHABITABLE conditions of Units @ Wise-Harris Arms Apts, 605 26th St-107, 5-Points, 80205 & being under a 24/7 FIRE WATCH with up to 9 additional violations by going to get HEAD Fire Professionals that happen to be in the building, "in a NY minute"!!
I had such a great time here with my family! They have lots of really pretty architecture, plus plenty of books and crannies to explore: including an old fashioned telephone booth and a shoe shine stand. It also has a scavenger hunt for all the kids so the whole family can go. Lots of photo opportunities all over and all the staff were so kind and helpful. Warning, there is a lot of stairs to get in, but once you are in there is an elevator. They also offer tours of this building from opening until 3pm. Definitely a fun place to explore!
A beautiful piece of CO history with amazing grounds.
Nice building. The free tour was ok but is rewarded by climbing the dome.
I went there because it is a classic sightseeing in Denver. It's not so far from the city, so it's a good idea to take a walk. There are things like rental bicycles and electric kickboards that you can visit. There are places like parks in the vicinity, so if you have time, you can relax there. There was a squirrel there and it was very cute. On the other hand, some people like homeless people are American, but they are not so scared, so don't worry.
Best Capitol if I say so myself. Staff is super great and friendly.
I recommend the free tour of the Colorado State Capital at Denver. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and showed us a lot of interesting places in the building. It s a pretty building with an interesting history and worth the visit. For an older Capitol, it was fairly state-of-the-art. Loved viewing the senate and house chambers and looking at all Presidential portraits from Washington to Trump. Not ADA updated.
Visited the Colorado State Capitol on 11/30/2018. It was a great experience. The tour was free and the guide was enthusiastic. The building is beautiful and the history is very interesting. Try to visit on a clear day since the tour finishes on the balcony of the dome and you can have a magnificent view weather permitting.
The distinctness of each States Capitol building never ceases to amaze me. Colorado s is no exception with huge, elegant dome stretching into the cloudless blue sky. The officers are security are super helpful not only for instructions at the Capitol but also for recommendations around the city.
I enjoyed the friendly staff and the opportunity to relieve my bowels in a clean restroom. The exit and entrance can be a bit taxing depending on which side of the building you re on and some exits are for employees only. But if you disobey and exit anyways like I did it s not a big deal.
What a gorgeous old building. You should definitely take the tour and go all the way to the top of the dome. It provides awesome views of the city and all the way out to the Rockies. It is well maintained and the building is a great display of history. Don't pass up a restroom, they are hard to find.
Beautiful place, architecture is perfect. It is admirable that they allow the general public to visit this beautiful place.
It's no Kansas State Capitol but interesting all the same. The upper level museum is a neat idea but the best part is finding the Mile High stair on the front steps of the capitol building. Do not feed the squirrels - they're crazy.
