They will lie to you when you are recruited (I'd imagine this is the same for all though.) Stating that the unit just deployed to Germany, and the prior year want to Puerto Rico. When you get in, you get a single chance to go to Bogota Brazil.
The master Sargent whom works for the base commander will invite himself over, uninvited, (while you are in training) and force himself on your wife - drunk. Then have the gull to tell the commander she asked for it. The commander will do nothing - and believe the MS. The commander will not order you to not tell the JAG, but will strongly suggest it is in your best interest not to report it.
When you do all the extra training (on your own time,) and when there is a slot open, and after your promotion paperwork has been signed off -- your paperwork will suddenly "disappear" from the Earth, and no one will ever even try to find it.
You will get to shoot a m16 (and only a m16) once in basic training, and maybe one other time in 6 years.
The automatic medals others seem to get for just existing, you may or may not receive.
When you offer a revolutionary idea, and after testing it in a proof of concept --- nobody will be interested.
