One of the best places to study in Colombo. The annual membership is just Rs. 52 to study. Closed on wednesdays and poya days. I would suggest if the place is opened on Wednesday in near future.

There's a good collection of books, magazines and news papers. There is a children's section as well. There's a large area to read news papers where all daily and weekend newspapers, in all three languages (Sinhala , English and Tamil ) are available. Also the periodical section has a good and up-to-date collection of magazines, local and foreign. Staff is also helpful.

The largest public library in Sri Lanka with an extensive lending and reference collection.
Separate areas for kids collection, newspaper & periodicals and also for study.
Very reasonable membership rates and lending terms.
Staff is making an effort to host various events as well.
Personally don't like the replacement hard leather covers applied on books but cannot be helped in a public library with large circulation, I guess

It was a great experience to study in the library. Even though it's pandemic time, they still allow students to go and study there.
You habe to give a prior call and book a table or you can go and book a seat too.
It's better to give a prior notice if you're going to bring a laptop or if you need power supply.
Cut not all the desks have power supplies with them. They specially give you a separate place if you need a power supply.
It was really good experience. You have to pay 50 rupees per year if yore not a membe of the library.
The staff is really friendly too.
I'll recommend for anyone who prefer study or work at library.
