Consistently amazing beer in a great setting. Must stop in the UP, if great beer is your thing.... Free popcorn, great staff and if you re lucky, you might visit on potluck day, and be invited to join in!

Out of the >100 breweries I have been to, this is definitely in the top 10 for beer quality. The owner was our bartender and was great! We got an impromptu tour of the brewing facility and some local history. If you are in the area it is worth the stop, and if not it s worth the drive.

Great place to get a craft beer. They also have wine and hard cider. Large selection and it rotates often so they are always changing it up. Free popcorn and you can bring in your own food if you want. Some nights a food truck will be parked outside. I would definitely recommend it for any beer lover!

Wow. If you happen to be in the UP you must make it a mission to get here. In what looks to be an annex off the huge Inn next door, this small basement brewery pumps out some truly quality beers. Great IPA and Stout, and a farmhouse that you'll enjoy even if you don't typically drink them. Service wasn't quite as good as the beer, but the beer is really good so still an easy five stars.

I went here with low expectations. I left amazed that a small town brewery has produced high quality beers. I sampled 5 and they were each worth traveling to this place. I've since been to 3 well known breweries in the UP and their beers don't compare to the excellent flavours of Cognitions beers. I will go out of my way to get back here and you should too.

Hidden gem in downtown Ishpeming area. Real interesting flavor profile for their craft beers. If you are a avid mountian biker, has gnarly trails to and from the brewery. One on the top 5 brewers in the UP! Enjoy and drive safe!

Just had a Gnome Wrecker at a local bar in Traverse City. I am hooked. Great beer. Very smooth and a wonderful finish. Bravo.

The beer is well above average. I'm not much of a fan of stouts, but Cognition's version with cocao, peppers and cinnamon might change my mind.

Great place, nice folks, excellent beer! It's always laid back and easy going here. Kid friendly, and zero percent pretentious. Come as you are!

This is a cozy place to get a craft beer. the tavern itself has a rich history and is an important fixture in the local community. The craft beer is made in house and the selection varies. I can usually find a beer I like. I do feel that they Brewers are sometimes too "creative" and would prefer that they stick to some if the less "complex" beers. I've always enjoyed the friendly staff and the free popcorn!

Friendly staff, good beer, lots of options on tap although a little hard to pronounce some of the names. It was a warm night, so i grabbed a table outside and started with a flight before moving on to a pint. Reasonable prices, nice venue, I'd be a regular if I lived in the area.

Great pub feel with an equal better selection. They also have mead and wine. Make sure to work up a thirsty on the RAMBA and or Heritage trails before heading in.

This is the best beer in the area, let alone one of the best I have ever had. Truly a hidden gem. It's funny, but when you read a beer description, for the most part, you don't ever taste those notes in the product. This place changes all of that and their beer is superb! Excellent staff, with a great knowledge of the beer! I love the late 60's and 70's horror themed beer names! My wife and I stopped in a couple of years back when they were just starting out and had only about 4 beers on tap. Wow, to see how they have matured in the craft and in taste will blow your mind! Do yourself a favor and skip the big regulars around the area and treat yourself to one of the best places that gives craft brewing a great name!!!

Excellent beers, excellent atmosphere. Though its tucked away downtown, this is a must-visit if you're in the UP looking for excellent microbrews.

New to the area so I looked what was within walking distance to the house for a beer. Cognition Brewery fit the bill so we walked on down. As others said it's a little confusing finding it if you don't know where you're going. Met the brewer Brian who seems like a great guy. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Good variety of beers for all tastes. Try the habanero beer (I dont remember the name)...yummy! Quiet and cozy the first visit, 2nd time was their anniversary so very busy and loud with live band but still fun.

Probably the best beer in Marquette County. Nice variety, rotates taps pretty often and usually has some creative, interesting beers. A little small and hard to find and can get too crowded and loud on weekend nights.

Best brewery in the area. Yes, even outdoing those more known ones in Marquette. Able to bring in your own food. Great vibe and atmosphere!

We were traveling to Marquette so just happened upon this brewery without too much warning, but I am happy we stopped here. We both had their Blood Orange Cream Ale and it was very tasty! Be sure to bring a mask! They have them for sale for $5 if you don't have one, but it is a strict policy. Understandable, considering the times!

Had a flight and enjoyed all the beer we tried. Good vibes inside.
