Coalition to Salute America's Heroes: Providing Aid and Assistance to Wounded Veterans and Their Families
The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes is a non-profit organization that has been providing aid and assistance to wounded veterans and their families since 2004. The organization was founded by Roger Chapin, a Vietnam veteran who saw the need for more support for wounded veterans after the September 11 attacks.
The Coalition is among the nation’s leading charities whose donors provide the wounded veterans and families of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn the aid and assistance needed for their long roads to recovery. The organization provides financial assistance, job training, housing assistance, transportation services, medical care coordination, education scholarships, mentoring programs, recreational activities as well as other forms of support.
One of the main goals of the Coalition is to help wounded veterans transition back into civilian life after serving in combat zones. Many veterans face physical injuries such as amputations or traumatic brain injuries (TBI), which can make it difficult for them to find employment or housing. The Coalition works with these individuals on an individual basis in order to provide them with personalized support that meets their unique needs.
In addition to providing direct support services for wounded veterans and their families, the Coalition also advocates on behalf of these individuals at both state and federal levels. They work closely with lawmakers in order to ensure that policies are put in place that will benefit those who have served our country.
The Coalition has received numerous awards over the years for its work supporting wounded veterans. In 2019 alone they were recognized by Charity Navigator as one of America's Best Charities; they were also awarded a Platinum Seal from GuideStar which recognizes organizations that demonstrate transparency in their operations.
