About Coalition plus
Coalition Plus: Fighting Against HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis Worldwide
Coalition Plus is an international union of community-based organizations that are dedicated to fighting against HIV/AIDS and hepatitis. With a presence in 52 countries, Coalition Plus works with over 100 associations to provide support, advocacy, and education to those affected by these diseases.
At Coalition Plus, we believe that everyone has the right to access quality healthcare services regardless of their social status or geographic location. We work tirelessly to ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS and hepatitis have access to the care they need.
Our mission is simple: To reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS and hepatitis on individuals, families, communities, and society as a whole. We do this by promoting prevention strategies such as safe sex practices, harm reduction programs for drug users, early diagnosis through testing campaigns, treatment adherence support for those living with these diseases.
We also advocate for policies that promote human rights and social justice for people living with HIV/AIDS and hepatitis. This includes advocating for access to affordable medications through patent law reform or negotiating lower prices from pharmaceutical companies.
Coalition Plus has been at the forefront of global efforts against HIV/AIDS since its inception in 2008. Our members include community-based organizations working on prevention programs among key populations such as men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender people (TG), sex workers (SW), people who inject drugs (PWID) among others.
We also work closely with governments at all levels – local, national or international –to ensure they prioritize funding towards effective interventions aimed at reducing new infections while improving care outcomes among those already infected.
Our approach is based on evidence-based interventions which are tailored according to local contexts while taking into account cultural sensitivities. We believe in empowering communities affected by these diseases so they can take ownership of their health outcomes while working collaboratively towards achieving common goals.
