CNMI Public School System: Providing Quality Education in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands
The CNMI Public School System (PSS) is the official education department of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. It is responsible for providing quality education to students in Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. The CNMI PSS website serves as a platform for parents, students, teachers, and other stakeholders to access information about schools and educational programs offered by the department.
The CNMI PSS has a long history of providing quality education to students in the Northern Mariana Islands. It was established in 1946 as part of the Trust Territory of Pacific Islands (TTPI) under United States administration. Since then, it has undergone several changes and improvements to meet the changing needs of its students.
Today, CNMI PSS operates 23 schools across Rota, Tinian, and Saipan that cater to over 10,000 students from kindergarten through high school. The department employs over 1,000 teachers who are committed to providing quality education that prepares their students for success in college or career.
One unique aspect of CNMI PSS is its commitment to bilingualism. The department recognizes that many families speak languages other than English at home and therefore offers bilingual programs that help these children succeed academically while maintaining their cultural identity.
CNMI PSS also offers special education services for children with disabilities or special needs. These services include individualized instruction plans tailored to each student's unique needs as well as support services such as speech therapy or occupational therapy.
In addition to traditional classroom instruction, CNMI PSS also offers extracurricular activities such as sports teams and clubs that allow students to explore their interests outside of academics.
The mission statement of CNMI PSS is "to provide all learners with opportunities for academic excellence through rigorous standards-based instruction." To achieve this mission statement effectively requires continuous improvement efforts on behalf of all stakeholders involved including parents/guardians; educators; administrators; community members; business leaders etc., who work together collaboratively towards achieving common goals related specifically towards student achievement outcomes within our public school system here locally within our islands regionally throughout Micronesia nationally globally worldwide!
