Went to view an exhibition of prints. First time we've been, impressive venue for a small town, people were flocking in for an evening at the theatre. Excellent facilities, bar, cafe etc. Big car park, great view.

I love this theatre. I saw my first panto there 34 years ago when I was 4, and was first on stage there when I was 5. Have been both on stage and in the audience hundreds of times since. It is so well kept, I love the way they share artwork and crafts from local people in the public areas like the bar, as well as the Gallery and shop. You feel as though you are constantly surrounded with local culture and history in the making. I went to see their Rock n Roll Panto, Dick Whittington last night. As ever, it was a fabulous production. Cast were brilliant, set was amazing, and a wonderful script (loved the local references). I would highly recommend this theatre to everyone I know. The staff are always lovely, polite and helpful, the conveniences always clean, and even from the outside it looks welcoming and cosy, especially all lit up like last night. They do great courses too, and hold unusual events there that I would not have thought of; the calendar is always full of interesting things. The brochure is much better than most: rather than just a list of events, it has great write ups about the companies and people involved in the events. Drinks in the bar are not too expensive compared to most theatres, and the cafe is reasonable too. They have a small cinema, which has screenings of old favourites as well as the new releases, and hold sing a long events too. The ice rink in the winter is a good addition too.
In short, I love it!

Plenty of disabled access in the building but the tiny lift does let it down a bit and could do with being made larger, you can only fit one wheelchair or scooter in at a time with maybe 2 standing if they are of slight build so there tends to be a line of people waiting to use it!
On the ground floor there's a cafe area, small gift shop, reception area for ticket collection etc. and the lounge room in which I've watched quartet bands and singers in, there is toilets in the corridor leading into the lounge, the lounge room itself is a cosy relaxed area with a separate bar in.
On the 1st floor there's a small gallery area, larger bar and seating area, the entrance for the small comfortable cinema and 2 theatres. There's a large disabled/baby changing facility in the gallery area as well as standard toilets in the bar area.
I have only been in the Anthony Hopkins theatre so can only comment on that one, there's ample seating and the stage is quite large for the theatre size, I've sat in various places inside, the seats aren't badly sized but, as per usual, are not comfortable when sat for so long, on the whole it's a pleasant place to go for an evening out and they show a diversity of things, a bit of something for everyone as well as workshops available at certain times of the year! The staff have always been lovely when I've been.
There are a few car parks to choose from but I do think a larger disabled parking area could be made as there is only 4 marked bays at the front/entrance area of the theatre.

Great theatre, but seriously needs better air conditioning through out the theatre. Also you have to pay for parking, which meant most of the parents parked on the council land, rather than theatre's multi story car park (Although turned out it's free on a sunday)
The gift shop and cafe also closed before the end of the performance (which started at 3.30,) which is a shame, as I enjoy having a coffee after a performance to chat about the show. So they missed out on a cut of 80 plus children's parents and family having food and drink.
The show we watched was the kids theatre group, who went to the Eisteddfod, the stage at theatre Clwyd was far too small for the number of children, guessing there were at least 80 children.
They should have had raised staging for the children at the back. Like a choir would have.
If I paid for my children to learn drama there, after seeing the show, I would have been asking for my money back, the play didn't make sense something about cakes and friends, only about 6 children had speaking parts, the rest were just chorus, you couldn't see half the children. And because it's children singing, you couldn't understand the songs, as some of the children didn't sing in time to others.

Great place to go for theatre productions, large theatre but feels intimate. Everything we have seen here, we have enjoyed thoroughly. Fantastic annual panto, and homegrown shows are also brilliant.

Could be warmer temperature, sat there with my thick coat on all through film and an icy cold nose. Staff are extremely helpful and at an interactive panto, they couldn't have been any more help. I have mobility problems and was wheeled around in one of their wheelchairs and was always part of the panto. Just warm up the seating areas please.
