They have classes in a variety of subjects and plenty of equipment. The vending machine food is better than average and they sometimes show movies. You don't have to be enrolled as a full or part time student to take classes. There are some classes available for high school students.

The Cinematheque is one of my favorite hidden gems in Cleveland. It's always a great opportunity to check out classic films or newer foreign pieces. We're lucky to have it in Cle.
We live a block from a regular movie theater but the movies at the Institute are so much better than normal Hollywood fare that we plan trips to the city just for the interesting films. Nice venue, easy parking.
Nice place to walk around and look at art for free if you are there but not worth going out of your way to see it. There s a movie theatre there as well and they show international movies as well as oldies. Nice building.
After purchasing tickets online they then made us exchange them at the ticket counter so we could be registered for a $5 gift card. Very annoying. Security girl was worthless. She sat behind a counter and played a game on her phone the entire time. I don't think she ever looked up. Theater was clean, comfortable, and good leg room in the lower seating area. Well maintained restrooms.
The Cleveland Cinematheque represents the very finest film and tradition of respect for film available in the Midwest. John Ewing with the assistance of Mister God has created the finest independent film Society I have ever encountered. If you are not a member become one if you have not seen a film here do so immediately.
Beautiful location, with a lot of careful planning gone into projection and sound. The selection of films from the past and around the world opens a lot of doors to you in terms of film as art and expression. I particularly enjoy their showings of cult classics around certain seasons, themes, or directors. Now, to explain the 4 stars. I understand this is an educational institution first, not an entertainment venue, but it wouldn't be a fair review if I didn't give my honest opinion. First, the seats are torturous. I'm a tall guy, the only other place that is so uncomfortable to physically exist in is an airplane. Lastly, no concessions that I'm aware of. Again, I know it's not that kind of a theater, but it would be nice. Especially if I could get a beer to numb the pain of those seats.
This is the BEST place in Cleveland to go see classic, foreign, and cult movies. The theater shows projections digitally and on 35mm film. Just check their schedule and it will say if it's on film. The theater has a strict no cell phone policy, so please be respectful because some people (me) like to watch a piece of art uninterrupted. They often have have different series of films. For instance, they just finished a series on the films of Jodorowsky, which I was fortunate enough to see 3 of. To save myself from rambling, go see movies here and, if you can, become a member.
Art college with a Harvard level reputation. Teachers are from the art world - making a living at it. They are not degreed teachers that learned art. That said, art is taught at a high level but sometimes the kids have to be the one to adapt to the teacher's teaching methods.
