I have just finished my first year at Cleshars after 15 years at London Underground. I have found the management team helpful and proactive, and always on hand to offer leadership and guidance.
The railway can be a very rewarding industry if you are willing to put the work and time in. However if you think you can register with multiple agencies and cherry pick what shifts you want, don't be surprised when the company won't invest in you.
