Hello all!
The location is only the headquarters to a broad homeless and recovery services location, so what I am about to explain to you will give you a better perception of the organization as a whole. I came in intending to be an intern at the Turning Point Oakland sight which is a transitional housing sight for women; there is also one for men too. That didn't work out because -long story short-the Oakland program director and the Turning Point house program manager told me that I should be a resident at that their house instead of an intern. I recently moved to the CityTeam Youth Collective house. Since I have been here it is much more lenient than the Turning Point house which is a good thing especially for young people. The bad thing is that since being here -only a few weeks- there is so much inappropriate behavior that has came from the interns and staff just at the Turning Point and Youth Collective house, it's not even funny. Most of it has involved -mostly from staff/interns and residents they put up it- stalking, eavesdropping, harassment, provocation, fabricating new rules, predatory, vulgar, and cliquish behavior. I have most definitely reported them to HR and their directors for these things. There has been some action taken these issues. Although, most of the residents at these programs that I've stayed at feel as though they have no voice because they are not taken seriously. When something serious is reported, it eventually gets brushed off or not handled very well. With all of this being said, I do have a few details that I did leave out. The bottom line is, that this is some of the programs/services at CityTeam being out of line and because they chose not to deal with the issue correctly, I had to take it public. If you like any further information please feel free to contact me, or even comment on this review. By the way, this is detailed for a reason. I feel as though the public and any prospective residents, interns, or staff should know about all of these issues and the behavior of CityTeam's representatives towards matter like this.
Honestly life can really be unfair at times,so when you walk into a friendly environment after sleeping outside for two nights straight can really make me appreciate a warm smile and a firm handshake.thumbs up and cool people who are keeping Jesus in the equation.it would be cool if there was a job center on site but all in all thanks cititeam. Word
