I hold a multi-currency acct and failed to see email notifications sent to my Spam acct by Citi indicating I had to declare a tax form.

Without any phone call, text, or urgent emails sent to me, they closed all 3 accounts, sent me a check and indicated it cannot be re-opened.

I provided feedback that the process was harsh, unprofessional and discourteous.

At a minimum, they could have a) arranged someone to phone to alert the customer to the urgency, b) changed the 'email subject header' to indicate the urgency of the situation and c) provided text notifications to prompt an urgent response and d) allow an individual to stop into their bank locally to address.

They've now added over 2 weeks of admin to my plate of reinstating an account (albeit at a different bank), clearing checks in the multi-currency accounts which takes up to 7 days, and re-registering multiple direct deposits and auto-debits.

The process, management and oversight of this process was beyond disbelief and tactless particularly before the 1st of the month.

Horrible customer service and treatment of long standing customers.

They closed my FX account without any prior communication, I was sent a cheque out of the blue for the balance amount and 3 months on my new bank is still chasing Citi to receive the proceeds. Called Citi customer service and I thought I was talking to a robot. I have no words. Stay away.

Citi talk a good game with regard to their international presence. The reality is they re cutting costs as deep as possible in places like the UK while pretending to offer a premium service. Customer Service is terrible and they no longer compete with the range of services offered by pretty much every other bank.

Rubbish bank all around: I opened my Citibank account in 2002 when I was working in Canary Wharf. At that time they were an ok bank. Now they are total and utter rubbish. All their services are poor. It is a total complication to make a simple transfer, their phone numbers do not work when calling from abroad, they do not respond to messages sent via their ebanking system. Their website is full of 'what you should expect from this and that', but in reality they do NOT meet any expectations. This is a picture of utter incompetence. I only have this account open to make some purchases when I visit the UK. Otherwise, I would close it.

After having been a Citigold customer since 2000 I can stand it no longer. In recent years dealing with this bank s customer service has become more and more frustrating. Nothing this bank does enhances or facilities the client experience, in fact everything they do seems to make life harder for the customer. Loyalty stands for nothing with this bank. I have found myself constantly chasing for things to be processed, emails are ignored or mismanaged and my relationship manager doesn t seem to care. I have now fallen below the Citigold minimum threshold and so will be charged a monthly maintenance fee which I am refusing to pay. After being a loyal but frustrated client for many years I have finally decided to transition away from this incompetence!

Frankly the best online banking platform I ever experienced. Since 2012 they constantly delivered without any fault. Of course, one must not expect the services of a high street bank. Many negative comments come from people who had the wrong expectations from a cheap online banking platform.

Now, I am in Thailand with no money because Citibank has to investigate my request to transfer funds.

The worst bank I ve ever had the misfortune to deal with. My most recent catastrophic experience (trying to add my wife as joint account holder) will be my last with Citibank. My advice is....find another bank.

Don't bank with them, they really only care about commercial, not consumer interests. They have closed all consumer branches in the U.K. and outsource all customer service to a call centre in Manila. Any special request takes 48 hours for a reponse and their website is essential broken, constantly. If you want a global bank go with HSBC.

We are customers that live part time overseas and cannot get access to our money when we are out of the country even to make a wire transfer. What sort of bank is that?? Currently waiting for a Citibank representative to call me back to help but so far nothing though we asked for help hours ago. Worse than useless. Perhaps if the staff were denied access to their own money every time this happens they might be a little more helpful and move themselves to get it sorted. They are a disgrace.

Absolutely awful, all I wanted was for them to send cheque deposit slips to the account postal address, I did not ask to be told anything, just asked them to send some deposit slips to the account address. They were not prepared to send them until I did a full security clearance, to post deposit slips to the account address, something that every other bank you can just walk in and pick up off the counter. This bank just makes it difficult to access your money, don't waste your time.

The security guard was even nicer than the client reception at the lounge.

I like the brand and the history but as a retail client for 5 years now I have to admit the service is very poor if you compare with other brands. But possibly this is just in the UK. Maybe they could invest a bit more on their solutions and customer service. Not even a credit card is offered and only one branch in London exists with the wrong closing hours posted. No mortgage solutions offered or loans too.

I have been a customer of the bank since 1985. In November 2019 my accounts were blocked for undisclosed reasons and still remain blocked as I write this review. Several calls made but no one could explain why the accounts were blocked. I have not been requested to provide any information or documentation. I have requested that my accounts be closed and the balances transferred to another bank. They replied that they will not honour my request until they completed their review and no specific deadline was provided. They suggested I could contact the Financial Ombudsman at which point they will cease direct contact with me. Its all like a movie to me that customers can be exposed to such lawlessness by a UK bank without serious consequences. I can't imagine that there are no regulations to protect customers against "protracted and indefinite review" and denied access to legitimate hard-earned funds. Why can't the bank hand over the suspicious case to NCA within 30 days instead of exploiting customers funds for undisclosed reasons.

This bank stole my money. It should have been transferred to recipient but they are keeping it more than 3 weeks and not responding to questions from neither me nor my bank. They are not giving any notice and not sending the money back.

In my last phone call they hung up on me when I asked them to pass on my complaint to the correct manager. Please stay away from this bank.

They look like a reputable bank, but they are not handling business very well.

Edit: I see others here are having the same problem recently. This is theft!

Edit edit: I guess you know a bank service is really bad when most good reviews just comment that the buildings look nice...
