John James AUDUBON is one of my genealogical cousins.
His maternel grandparents are my ancestors
The next time I come to visit New-York, I will come to see the monument erected in the cemetery in honor of him.
And I will also visit your church.

I went to Church of the Intercession because my good friend, who is also the church organist was being honored. The church itself is quite large. Definitely cathedral size. It is connected to an on-site cemetary.
I sat in with their choir. The rehearsal space is just off the chancel space. I especially enjoyed the service because it was bilingual (English and Spanish). Prayers, h yuh mns and the sermon were done in both languages alternately. After the service, a lovely reception was held upsatirs in a spacious gym/hall. The food was tasty and the wait time was pretty good as well.
I look forward to returning for another mass.

My mother and I visited at an off-service time when the sanctuary was open. It is a beautiful sanctuary. We loved touring the cemetary, seeing the tomb of John James Audubon at the rear of the church. We loved touring the museum of Spanish American antiquities across the street. This is a fantastic touring site when visiting New York City and Manhattan .

Watched the 109 Reading

Watched the 109 Reading
Twas the night b4 Christmas -
Candlelight Carol Service on tv.
The Christmas mass was the best I ve ever seen. Especially with people wearing costumes & they showed a dog in a sweater.
(which touch my heart)
The Dancers, Singing & very informative.
It was a community, brought together.
* More churches should watch this & take
A lesson from it.

Clement Clark Moore was a gift to us all
His story lives on in our hearts forever.

Totally enjoyed
I hope it will be shown again for many years
to come.

If you want to see an example of the large historic Church of the Intercession in upper Manhattan, set in a large garden and cemetery with notable men such as James Audubon and John Jacob Astor buried on the grounds and a monument to another Astor who had gone down the Titanic disaster, this is the place to visit.

The location is pleasant and serene with Hudson River views. The impressive Church of the Intercession, circa 1910-1915, seems ancient. The grounds surrounding the church are actually Trinity Church's uptown cemetery and are about 23 acres in total area, divided on both east and west sides of Broadway from Riverside Drive to Amsterdam Avenue and between 153rd and 155th Streets, a bucolic location in New York City.

I entered through a cemetery gate on West 155th Street and walked around looking at graves of a few well known people, then past the only mauseleum in Manhattan. I loved every minute of this trip uptown and may return to see the church interior.
