We ate here on 2/23/18. Our evening started with valeting our car. I park out front and I see three employees of the valet standing at their booth. Nobody assists with opening my passengers door, or mine, or greeting us at all. I step out and walk up to the valet stand, where finally one employee greets us and asks me for $8. Confused, I asked if i can pay it inside or later as I'd like to get in and eat, he says no... which I find odd, never in my experience with valet have I had to pay up front, but maybe that's beginning to be more common, but something to consider changing. There was no sign that I saw that even said that valet was $8. We went inside for our evening. Atmosphere was very cool, darker with great lighting fixtures. You may need a flashlight to see the menu though. Definitely a unique spot in Minnesota. Ordered a few different sushi, the fire roll is easily my favorite sushi I have ever had in my life... spicy with a lot of flavor, crunch, and very fresh. We went with a bottle of wine, which we enjoyed. Service was good- unfortunately I forgot our servers name. Food came out quickly. Portions are large, but our waiter was nice and explained everything I needed to know before we ordered since it was my first time. Dinner experience was great, but it ends there. Trying to get the car from valet, I walk outside to one of the employees counting a handful of cash and give him my ticket, which he takes from me without saying anything. He continues to count his cash for about 5 minutes while I tell my date to wait inside as it is the middle of winter in Minnesota. After 5 minutes I see him start to walk to wherever they keep the cars. 15 minutes go by and still no car...how car is their lot? What are they doing? Finally it comes around the block and the valet attendant parks it, leaving the driver side door wide open. As we start to walk up to the car he walks towards the rear of my car to speak to another employee who just pulled up a car behind him. I, again, open the passenger door for my date and go around to the driver side with the door still wide open and absolutely no word from the valet attendant as he basically is hanging out at the car behind us. Very disappointed in the valet service that Chino outsources for their restaurant. The company is 'uptown valet''. Maybe it is our age or type of car, but I hope this is not how they treat all their customers. Although age and car should not matter in service. Would strongly consider looking into another valet company if I was management here, as it definitely changed our dinner experience. Might be back for the sushi, definitely wont be back for the valet service. Avoid valet if you're a future customer of Chino Latino.
