May 20th.

May 20th.
Very sorry that I take an order of 2x Beijing duck with pancakes. And then half of the order wrong. I called 20 times but also no answer. Very sorry and very disappointed. Literally the order is called Peking duck with pancakes and then you forget the pancakes!

Update:
21st of May.
Today I had contact with the restaurant and as a loyal customer I was very well compensated by being offered my entire order again for free. Previous review was due to the disappointment I saw on my wife who has long wanted to eat this dish. Sea Palace, Thank you very much

Good Chinese cuisine, all dishes were tasty, unfortunately the duck was cold (as if not kept warm). Only the service was Chinese like. The service was very reserved and distant, so that as a guest you can feel uncomfortable and out of place.

We were 3 people. At the beginning from outside it looked quiet impressive and we thought it's a tourist trap, but as longer we stayed inside we understood that it's the total opposite. As you enter to the restaurant you feel like you've been taken into a Time adventure in China.
As for The food- if you're at least 2 people I recommend you to ask for the deal which includes a starter course, a soup, main course and a dessert. We couldn't believe that we actually got all these for a fair price and were ready to pay even more.
As for the stuff- The service and attention we got from them we're accompanied with a lot of patience and they even apologized that they couldn't dedicate themselves a bit more to us since it's a busy day.

I have been going Amsterdam for 25 years and always loved stopping by for dinner at this beautiful looking restaurant. Used it for many special occasions.

Over the last 2 years, I avoided it after a string of visit where I experienced poor service and average to bad food.

My missus and I agreed to give it one more go on a recent visit and I'm so glad that I did.

We booked dinner on a Monday evening for 19.45h and I got a message back telling me that Dinner service didn't start until 20.00h. I thought this a bit odd but let it pass.

This place is now much easier to get to/from by Taxi since all the surrounding construction has completed.

On arrival, it was clear that the first floor of the restaurant was being used for a very large function. My heart sank as I retraced the poor levels of service I had when the restaurant had been relatively quiet.

Not sure what has changed but the same staff who were previously cold and dismissive had come to life. We received a decent welcome and were shown immediately to a nice table. Short wait while our drinks order was taken but after I initiated some small talk with the waiter he seemed to warm up and was great. Some of the other servers that came to the table were equally warm and made some suggestions as we worked through the massive portions of delicious food.

Dim Sum was perfect and the main courses were really high standard. We drank cocktails (love the Summer mule) and had Prosecco with our main course. I had to ask for the wine twice but I could see the waiter was annoyed with himself for not keeping up the great service.

Really enjoyed a great couple of hours eating the beautiful food. The price is shockingly expensive and it cost us twice as much as any of the other equally good restaurants during our trip but for me, it was worth it. We did go a little overboard on the starters to be fair.

My recommendation would be that if you have not been here for a while and you are ok with the prices ( 25 for a main dish), then give the Sea Palace another chance. I'm glad I did

The difference between the mediocre and an original restaurant and that sincerely will not leave you indifferent. Very good quality, quantity depending on the dish, correct prices.
It is not necessary to book you can go and wait in the area of your bar taking something to have a table available.

This is one place you absolutely must visit when you visit Amsterdam. 3 floors of an amazingly decorated restaurant on the water!!!! Quite steady and beautifull with amazing food, kind and helpful staff , instantly bringing drinks and getting our order. My chicken with rice tasted like it lifted the bar across every Chinese I ve'had in europe while the decor is amazing. The ceiling reflects the calm waters of the canal which in turn reflect the street lights!! The restroom is quickly clean and the prices were way lower than I expected. Every dish in this wonder of restaurants costed less than 20 . I would have been happy to pay more for this experience. This gets 5 stars because I can not give 6

Fantastic dim sum, the waitress was very friendly and helped us out with ordering, as only one of the people in our party had dim sum before but never ordered. The food was fantastic, and we all left extremely full, and very happy for it. The location is like no other, and the views are phenomenal. Definately a must when coming to Amsterdam.

Little tempted by the filthy and stinking hustle and bustle of the maze of streets in the center of Amsterdam and the central station district, we came to this great Chinese restaurant and we were not disappointed with the quality of the dishes. Take the time to study the menu and the menus carefully, avoiding fried treats and soups: Paying attention to the prices, it takes around 50 / pers. excluding alcoholic beverages for a generous meal. This is not excessive with regard to the place (see photos) and the view of the water it offers, if however you insist on being well placed ;-)

Tourist trap. Eat at your own risk for Asian customers. Considerably higher priced chinese food in Amsterdam (was expecting premium cuisine for the price since it is somemore based in a full fledged restaurant), was terribly salty and believed to be loaded with MSG as I have sensitive tastebuds. Utterly disappointing for a supposedly cantonese-based restaurant (not even sure if its authentic compared to any in Hongkong). The worst you can ever get were a few male service staff (especially the one with lotsa body tatoo on his arm and a pony tail that behaved like a hooligan - be extra cautious) whom seem to prefer to serve Caucasians than Asian customers, giving us (just because we had black hair and brown skin like themselves?) stares, cold shoulder and arrogant look even though we only met for the first time (they make you feel as if you owe them a living). It is so contrary to watching them serve others with golden hair and white skin. If you understand what i m driving at, don t bother spending your hard earned money here to give yourself a break from unhappiness for the rest of your holiday - Words from a global trotter.

Not too great food for the price that it charges. Ambience though is nice. It is located on a canal and has a nice oriental feel to it. I would recommend this place only if you fancy having food in a floating restaurant.

This was our first time at the Sea Palace Restaurant.
Our interest was piqued from a TV show that said there was the best duck here.
We had reserved a table for 4 people.
At the reception we had to scan a QR code, the names of all the people who wanted to eat with us and answer several pages about the state of health on the mobile phone .....
Other groups were standing around us, waiting for instructions. It all seemed a bit chaotic and hospitable. You understand Corona, but you can regulate it differently
After a few minutes of waiting, we were finally brought to the square. The restaurant is quite large, very nicely decorated and clean
We sat right by the window and had a great view of the water
On another QR code that was on the table, we were able to choose drinks and food and order them ourselves ... the second attempt and after several scans, almost 30 minutes later we also ordered .
One dish, the duck, was really delicious. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing about the entire meal. Everything else was OK, but nothing special ...

Conclusion: price-performance ratio is unfortunately not right at all, far too expensive, impersonal atmosphere / mass processing, no sauces / spices on site, no normal rice on the menu, no rice wine to say goodbye ....

But everyone should go there and make an opinion for themselves

Food was taste less.

Food was taste less.
Tip: NEVER order any pork belly from them. It is layered excessively with salt! It was inedible & when we complained about it we were just told 'all our pork belly is salty' no apologies, offering of other dishes - nothing!
The other dish we ordered was just extremely oily & no taste. We ended up having to go elsewhere to eat because we could not finish our dishes.
Highly disappointing! Would not return. Prices are not worth it

This place was huge! It looks like a palace on the outside and inside. 3 levels that probably seat 200 or 300 people each. Service and food were great, quality dim sum. Super curious what they use all the space for as it seemed that only the middle floor was open (about 2/3 filled at about 3pm midweek). A little out of the way to get to unless your staying right next to the train station but worth it!

This is our "family get together" place. We love it every time. The food is great. We always order different dishes and share them :)

The ambiance is cozy and charming. Great view. Prices are medium. It's a very central spot in Amsterdam, a 5 minutes walk from Central Station.

Nice setting, a bit spendy, and overdone inside. Their take on Chinese food is very different from what we've seen in Holland and the US, no idea how authentic.

For example, the sechuan beef was swimming in an oily soup with tons of peppers, though curiously not super hot.

The siu leung bao took quite a while to show up.

Hands down 5 stars, the best meal delivery ever for me. Real restaurant quality at home and then delivery is often not the case.
Good quality meat (I had both beef and chicken in the dishes), good rice, portions are generous and the price is very reasonable.
The packaging is very neat and tidy and the delivery was fast. Minimal plastic used.
Do try it is my advice, really big surprise!

Slightly more expensive, but very good quality and large portions. Staff friendly, attentive and multilingual. The restaurant is on the ground floor, the tables by the window have a good view of the harbor and old town. You don't feel that the restaurant is swimming.

A pagoda on the water! If you want to eat good Chinese food without having to worry about everything being clean, this is the place. Very abundant dishes, served with care. Courteous and attentive staff. If you are Italian and you have some problems with the language, ask for Carlo, a nice Italian waiter. I advise. Prices in the standard.

Great restaurant with wonderful friendly staff. Food was amazing. We were originally in the Mojo Kitchen across the street, but due to unfriendly and rude staff there, we choose to leave. We even called the Sea Palace while sitting at Mojo. They Sea Palace staff went above and beyond to find us accommodations. Highly recommend this place over Mojo if you are deciding between Chinese or Japanese cuisine. They are a bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for in quality and service.

They gave you soo much food. I was in heaven . Portion sizes were very big like i could have shared my food...But I didn't. Hahaha . The inside of the restaurant was so elegant and I loved the red carpet. Also it was floating on water! Now that's a first for me. I HIGHLY recommend this place. Especially if you like Chinese and big portions.

P.s Going here after smoking like 10 joints is very satisfying.

Enjoy! Xx

It's not really a tourist trap. It is just a little expensive. Especially if due to the abundance of dishes and the scarcity of the diners you end up not finishing everything they bring you and you still have to adjust the bill anyway. Better to go in good company and at least share. Say hello to the Sicilian waiter, who runs like a Chinese and adds his "ethnic" sympathy.
P.S. BEWARE OF THE LADDER THAT BRINGS IN THE BATHROOM!

The bottles of wine were always open without being opened in front of you, the dishes were not terrible.

Exactly as our guide told us: very nice restaurant seen from the outside and quite the opposite in terms of quality of food.

Almost no meat, only vegetables and a little water (but no more water because meadow is the bottle of wine very expensive).

Long waiting times. Do not order for nam / pork streaky here as it is ridiculously expensive. You only get a few small pieces of meat. I have indicated that it is very little and am told that this has always been so little. Other dishes you get a reasonable amount.
