So peaceful and beautiful. Great place for families and kids. I just wish that someone was around to ask questions to.

Mt Baldy is close enough to get to the snow in less than a hour from most places in L.A. Going to the mountains is always a great experience. What I didn't like was that there was litter in the hiway turn outs and tagging on rocks and structures.
The Ranger at the Mount Baldy trails was a complete jerk and very rude. Now I can understand how people can get lost on the mountains will hiking with people like that working here!
Only an hour from downtown LA, great local trail for a good work out. You ll be hiking at altitude (10000 feet) on exposed terrain so bring plenty of water, sunblock, and take it slowly. To save some climbing you can take the snow lift up to connection with Devil s Backbone. Windy at top so bring extra layers.
You are able to purchase daily parking and yearly parking passes here. They have a small gift shop and some nature scenes with local animals. Also, there are replicas of Native American homes and Gold Rush camps outside. As well as many samples of local plants labeled around the center.
Ranger is very nice. Show me the parking location, hiking routes and the things that I need to be aware of.
Interesting place for education for gold mining history.
