I do NOT recommend Debbie as a midwife at all! After a lot of thought I have decided to share the story of my our birth with her. She is very nice and charming so I was surprised by her rude and hostile manner when she arrived to my home. She wasn't organized and did not have all the parts to the birth tub so my aunt needed to run to the store to gets parts. She did not have a birthing ball or other labor items as promised. Shortly after the tub was set up she made us RUSH out of my house to go with her to her home so that she could deliver another women's baby who went into labor after I did. I heard the other woman labor and deliver the baby while I was left alone without medical attention for hours. Once she returned to me she made us rush to the hospital where she went to sleep and did not advocate for our birth plan at all. She allowed the Dr to bully me into a procedure that was a STRICT NO for both my husband and I. I also endured many elements of sexual assault and obstetric violence. Currently, I am working with professionals to try and come to peace with the trauma I suffered from my birth. This experience thought me to NEVER go into birth without a Professional Douala. No matter how much you trust your caregiver. It also thought me to write honest reviews on health care providers so that people can make honest decisions about whom they work with. This whole situation is very sad for many reasons, mainly because I believe in home birth more than anyone could ever imagine.
I would also like to say that it is VERY difficult and VERY brave for women that experience negative births to come forward and share what they can with others, or to confront their care givers that caused the trauma in the first place. I hope more woman feel compelled to do so and are able to do so without the fear of backlash, further harassment or not being believed. I hope one day there truly is a safe space for woman with birth trauma to share their stories about the health care providers they hired without negative repercussions. These are OUR stories, these are OUR perceptions, these are OUR truths!
