When I worked downtown, a coworker friend and I would meet up for lunch, and once in a while we'd end up here. I loved it. It was really quiet at lunchtime during the week. He knew a lot of members & staff because his family is involved in the sailing scene in Chicago and that made it very welcoming as well. The food was good. They have awesome (members & guests only!) parties in the summer during the boat parade.

I went to here for a camp. It was crazy expensive, the instructors were mean and you know what happened to me their? I fell off of a paddle board that had two other kids on it with a kayak paddle which is not safe at all and the paddle hit me right in the head. I had to go to a hospital to get 6 staples in my head and the rest of my summer was ruined because I couldn't get wet.
Thanks CYC.

It's members volunteer thousands of hours of time to support the sport of sailboat racing. Worked here for an outside event. Was bartending, was promised tips to be split by management. Management never paid out tips. They had changed management. And it's our fault. So we worked hard for this and just because the other manager screwed up we get screwed. Never ever working here again.

While I greatly enjoyed being a member at this club, my experience leaving the club has been dismal. For the past 6 months I ve been dealing with billing issues and CYC continues to bill me despite my resignation over the summer.

Membership and billing personnel have been responsive but inept at resolving this issue, though each month, they assure me it s been sorted.

Visiting reciprocity member from Michigan City, Indiana. This was our first visit to the Chicago Yacht Club. Super staff, when I arrived hostess was aware of our arrival identified me by name and made me feel like a lifelong member here and not just a visiting salt. Drinks were generous pours and very reasonable for the location (this is important for boaters). Food was awesome, server saw that we were catching up with some old friends who lived in CA. and was observant enough to give us time and space to remeness between visits to our table. This is a long time club steep in tradition and all the staff and members we ran into were nothing but friendly and helpful we had a wonderful evening. We choose to eat on the patio since our friends only had shorts to wear and slacks are understandably required to eat in the dinning room. The evening and the weather were beautiful so it worked out perfect, you sit table side right along the water front with the views of the beautiful sailboats, lake and have the backdrop of the skyline behind you. If you have the chance I highly recommend this location, cheers!
