Classy yet not pretentious. I cannot vouch for all the rooms -we stayed in The Founders Room overlooking Millennial Park/Michigan Ave. Its dark wood, leather furniture, granite floors and opulent decor, were presented with meticulous detail observing the integrity of the original craftsmanship of this historic building. Simply amazing. The three room, white tiled, bath facility s ambience- was fit for royalty. Exquisite in every detail -down to the water bottle with the gold CAA logo, etched on its surface.

Cindy s on the top floor is one of the places to be on the Magnificent Mile.

I have had the privilege of staying at the Sanctuary, Ritz Carlton, Waldorf, Four Seasons, the Fairmont, etc... this is by far my favorite of them all.

The Chicago Athletic Association has plenty of internal venues of Sports bars, classy restaurants, and a lounge complete with fireplace and laptop work stations. If you wish to be pampered in Chicago: I d suggest this place highly. $$$$

Outstanding boutique hotel. Rooms are quaint and sweet (some not with a view, but who stays in their room all day?). The housekeeping staff is on point. Cindy's has the best view of the Lake and harbor! Need to check it out!

Really comfortable bed, amazing bathroom, the best service I have ever experienced. The food is delicious. I had the same breakfast two days in a row it was so good! (Baked eggs at Cherry Circle Room) Beautiful old details all around the hotel. Really comfortable unpretentious place. Can't wait to come back!

This place is so low key and sophisticated. One side is a cozy lounge, the other side is a surprise of arcade like activities... with a bar! Mini bowling at its best sitting right above shake shack and right below a grand rooftop bar.

I LOVE this building. It is beautiful and seriously, everyone visiting or in Chicago must check it out. The second story study and game room are a blast from the past that make you feel like you're in a movie. Cindy's (on the top floor) is delicious with incredible views. Great tourist destination without feeling touristy.

Rooms were small, but it doesn't much matter as you have some many places to go and have fun in this gorgeous historic hotel.

Great location.
Amazing beds and linens.
Beautiful hotel.
Love that they maintained the look and the feel of the old men's athletic club.

The SMELL of Shake shack restaurant on the 1st floor is all over the building. It's ruining the experience. Other than this, the hotel is fantastic, I don't know what they were thinking of when they leased the 1st floor to a fast food restaurant.

This hotel has the best lobby situation I've ever seen. Super spacious yet with a cozy warm feel. The hotel and the rooms have a nostalgic sports theme without over playing it. Picture a modified pommel horse in your room as a bench at the end of your bed. Feels a little over-masculine, but the lobby and location right across from Millennium Park make it stellar.

Historic hotel with beautiful dark wood interior decoration. That is the positive part. The room we stayed in was small, bathroom fan was broken, no coffee in room, no hooks to hang up towels or clothes. Everything felt cramped. For the considerable price point of this hotel I would have expected more. Rooftop bar has great views though.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Chicago Athletic Association.

We stayed 2 nights in a "Park View" room. The view was spectacular - Bean, Park, and Lake. The room was quite nice with a long hallway, a large tiled bathroom, and a medium sized bedroom with a comfy bed and desk. The wool blanket and bathrobes were especially comfy.

During our stay, we requested wine glasses be delivered to our room. They were delivered promptly without issue.

The lobby is awesome. It's used as a study space by day and a lounge by night. It reeks of Prohibition-era classiness and it's awesome. Dim lighting and leather chairs.

We also spent a good amount of time drinking and playing in the game room, which we really enjoyed.

The Cherry Circle Room was also delicious for breakfast with great coffee and interesting napkin prints.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to try Cindy's since it required a reservation.

In all, we probably spent more time in the hotel than exploring Chicago during our stay - and we don't regret it at all.

This hotel has dozens of attractions and each can take you away to another era in Chicago history - all while feeding your appetite of food, entertainment and relaxation. I've stayed here once and I can't wait to do it again. The staff is beyond accommodating, the ambiance is stellar, and the decor is worth some tea to sip and take in. Slow down, learn a little about this club and if you can, get a room to truly soak in the fun.

Good rooftop bar overlooking Millennium Park and Lake Michigan. The bar is enclosed which is good for those hot, muggy days in Chicago. The drinks and food were a little to hipster/crafty for me since I am a simple guy wanting simple stuff, but the location makes up for it. You can get beer and mixed drinks.

Love the hotel room and the Cherry Circle Dining Room. The lobby and game room were so taken over that we, as paying guests could not enjoy either. Would have loved to sit in the lobby and enjoy a drink. Seems that the local student population has the same idea...

I really love the interior and atmosphere of the library at the Chicago Athletic Association. The wood work is stunning, and they have nice real fireplaces. The drinks list is okay with good wine and beer choices. The cocktail selection appeared limited, but the spirits list is pretty good. It wouldn't be my first choice for the drinks, but the inside more than makes up for it.

Chicago athletic association is a great place to bring out of towners. You can take them up to Cindy's to enjoy a cocktail and awe at the view of Michigan avenue. I also like to grab a coffee and decompress in the game room or the lobby area just adjacent of the game room.

Spent a night at the drawing room and the game room. The game room was pretty crowded so we ended up spending most our time in the drawing room. Our server, Bobby, was amazingly professional, and he always seemed to pop up right as our drinks were emptying. Fantastic service, and excellent drinks. Well worth a visit if you're ever in the neighborhood.

Key card didn't work for a few hours due to an "IT" glitch, then only one of our two provided cards worked. Only two (small) elevators for a lot of people so wait times ranged upward to 5-6 minutes and even then had many floor stops since staff members were constantly going in and out. Elevators were also far away from the front desk and required walking through the game room, which is basically a bar, with luggage. One evening their was a private event in the game room so we needed to be "escorted" through which was just completely bizarre. The game room was fun, beer selection was good, but small sizes in draft. Cherry circle room breakfast was great as was our server.

LOVED my stay here at this historic location right on Michigan Ave. It was a work event that had me here 2 nights and from the staff to the rooms to the Game Room, I have zero negative comments and am thinking about when I can get back here! There is a coffee/beer place on the ground floor, a huge sitting and work area that is right off reception in the lobby, a restaurant and bar on the roof and lots of other amenities and services.

My room was awesome and the decor was like an old school gym. You have a fantastic mini bar area and these cool robes that are sooooo comfy. Sleep quality was great.

We had several meals here between the Game Room and the conference/banquet areas... all of the food was outstanding.

Well done CACH!

First time wife and I came to Chicago was last winter from Florida just for a long weekend.
This hotel made the trip. Sitting by the fire on a cold evening having a libation. And on the same block one of the oldest cigar store and lounge in the country. What else can anyone ask for. If it wasn't such a liberal town I would come back more often.

This hotel has surpassed every other hotel experience prior to my stay. The staff was extremely accommodating, the vibe was wonderful and fun, and the restaurants were superb! The hotel excelled at customer service. They text you periodically during your stay to see if there is anything you need and reply expeditiously if you make a request or just need to ask a question. By far my favorite part of visiting Chicago was the hotel.

Beautiful hotel. The lobby is breathtaking, excellent game room, gorgeous rooftop bar. The staff is so kind. The rooms vary. I've stayed in open spacious rooms with gorgeous views and very tiny rooms all for the same price. Twice my room has faced a brick wall (although I've never complained or asked to be moved). I wouldn't stay again unless I could ensure a better room. The best aspects of the hotel are open to the public.

The rooms at the Chicago Athletic Association are designed with comfort in mind. Each room is uniquely decorated with vintage-inspired furnishings that pay homage to the building's rich history. Guests can choose from several different room types including standard rooms with city views or lake views as well as suites that offer more space and luxurious amenities like soaking tubs.

Dining

One of the highlights of staying at the Chicago Athletic Association is dining at one (or all) of its many restaurants. Cindy’s Rooftop Bar offers stunning panoramic views of Lake Michigan along with delicious cocktails and small plates inspired by global street food. The Cherry Circle Room is an elegant restaurant serving classic American cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients.

For something more casual, guests can head to Shake Shack or Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea for quick bites or coffee drinks respectively. And if you're looking for something truly unique, check out Game Room on the second floor where you can play bocce ball or billiards while enjoying craft cocktails and snacks.

Events

The Chicago Athletic Association also offers several event spaces perfect for weddings, corporate events or other special occasions. The White City Ballroom features soaring ceilings adorned with crystal chandeliers while Stagg Court provides an indoor basketball court perfect for team-building activities or receptions.

Conclusion

Overall, if you're looking for a unique place to stay in downtown Chicago that combines history with modern luxury then look no further than The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel & Dining Destination!
