Had a great afternoon walk through our beloved Park. A rattle snake greeted us. She is visible in one of these pics. Hope you can find her! Haha

We've stayed at many beautiful Colorado State Park campgrounds and this one might be the crown jewel. Campsites are spacious and well separated. Situated on the east side of Cheyenne Mountain, many sites have spectacular views out over Fort Carson to the plains. Book early (6-mos) for spring-summer-fall. It's usually full for five months straight.
Beautiful state park. Came here for the first time even though living by it for the last 3 years. Realized what we were missing. Great trails at the feet of the mountain.
Hats off to the Dixon Trail! An immense hiking challenge, even without snow on the ground. Lots of hidden gems along the route like lookouts and a memorial/landmark for a plane crash in the 1950s (wreckage is still there). I took Talon to North Talon to Dixon trails. Based on recent weather and the season, it was cold winds and slick mud along the start of Talon. Snow on the ground accumulated almost linearly as you go up. Not for the faint hearted, but one of the most challenging and rewarding hikes I've done!
The park is very clean, safe, and not flooded with people. It is right beneath Cheyenne Air Station, (the famous military base under the mountain) and right above Fort Caron. Anyone is able to get in, and disabled veterans get in free. Has many paths that can be traveled by those who are less stellar athletes.
Lots of trails. Great place to escape to for us locals. Lot of picnic areas. Just be sure to bring some shade.
Enjoyed the campground, very nice place to stay. Close to Manitou Springs, great place!. Lots of shops, really enjoyed the area.
Also very close to Garden of the gods.... beautiful!
We loved our one night stay here and were sad to have to leave so soon, but we will be back for sure. The sites were great (raptor Glen Loop)! It seemed like there was so much to do at the park on top of all the fun activities a short drive from the site. It has everything we look for in a campground! Great location, good views, plentiful activities, and friendly people.
Absolutely stunning location! Beautiful, large sites, full hook-ups, stunning views, and wonderful trails! We will be back for sure!
This was our first visit here and we very much enjoyed it. The sites are very nice, paved and hookups in a great spot. Excellent location for visiting Pikes Peak & Garden of the Gods.
