I felt the wine was mediocre and over priced. The food was over priced and not worth it. However, my friends loved the wine. The views are the best part of this winery.

Chaumette has a kind owner, caring and attentive staff, and food that is mouthwateringly delicious. The wine is also fantastic, as it is not as sweet as other Missouri wines. It has a pleasant aroma and a soft finish. The staff were all happy to be working and friendly. The grounds are very well kept and the entire winery was spotless. The prices for lunch at the restaurant are very agreeable, especially considering how well-made they are. My compliments to the chef! I would love to stay at one of the villas in the future. If you are looking for the best winery in Missouri, this is it!
We visit this winery often. The food is absolutely incredible. You should never pass up the garlic fries. I have never had a bad meal there! I am not a wine drinker, but my friends love it. The scenery is gorgeous any time of year. The service is great except when they are super busy. It's not bad service at all, they are doing their best. Be prepared and be patient! We will continue going back to this fabulous place.
I can't give the best review as we were here for a wedding. With that being said, the venue was stunning. Only tried one wine, their dry red, and it was good. My only complaint has to do with the weather. It was very cold at this wedding, and there were not enough sources of heat for us to enjoy everything comfortably. It was a beautiful wedding, and had it not been 25 degrees and/or it was better heated, then this would have gotten a better review.
Loved it, view to die for, rooms very nice, good food!
Very beautiful venue for a wedding. I have to thank the chef who made me a special vegetarian meal, it was delicious. Staff did a nice job of making sure everyone had what they needed. Food was great.
A day trip from near St Louis. First we saw what a beautiful view it was of the rolling hills and the vineyards. Sitting on the northeast side of the Grapevine Grill and it s beautiful! We couldn t decide which plate to get on the menu so we got the grass-fed burger and the Italian Pita and we were not disappointed in either! A nice relaxing day on the front porch enjoying the view and some Chardonnay.
Excellent time and terrific wine. Everyone was friendly!
My wife and I visited Chaumette for our anniversary in mid-April, what an amazing experience. We relaxed on porch overlooking the valley while we waited for dinner time. At dinner, the food was excellent and the waitress was exceptional. My wife, unfortunately has a gluten allergy, so sometimes finding restaurants that can accommodate her can be both challenging and exhausting. The chef rewarded my wife with an extremely flavorful and beautiful meal. Will come back repeatedly.
We just had our wedding at Chaumette, and it was FABULOUS! We worked with Abigail, and she was just amazing. She's a great listener and compromises rather than saying no. We had some issues with the villas/check-in process (2 stars for them - said they would prioritize the wedding party's rooms before the rehearsal dinner but instead the MOB, FOB, and groom could not get into their rooms past check-in and were late for the rehearsal), but needed to give the event team the 5-star credit they deserve! You will not regret having your wedding here!
Had a family lunch there, and although the food and service was fabulous, the noise from the adjacent tasting room was deafening. We had a table for 4 and had to yell to be heard. The adjacent room was packed with very obnoxious and loud drunks! If you want to have fine intimate dining, I think they should close it off further from the noisy part! Otherwise, very pretty and nice.
The place is awesome but the staff is horrible! Not very bright or helpful and also rude! It s sad because this could be an awesome winery with the amenities they have. There are several other wineries in town the same area so I d suggest trying a different one.
We used to love coming here and bringing a picnic basket! They have changed that policy and now you can't bring in your own food. Very disappointing.
Today was my 4th visit to Chaumette and I've enjoyed each outing (especially the live entertainment); as well as brought someone new each time I've visited. Well today while dining, there was a dog walking on the patio not accompanied by anyone and I'll be the first to tell anyone, I'm afraid of dogs and am not an animal lover.
One of the guests in my party asked if the dog could be removed and was informed that it was the owners dog. I remember one of the staff coming onto the patio and being told by another staff that the dog had gone to the front. Within 20 minutes the dog had returned still unaccompanied.
At that point, I removed myself from the table and went on the inside. My server asked me what was wrong and I told her. It appeared to be no big deal to anyone except me and my party. I finished my meal on the inside which defeated my purpose of being at the winery, paid my tab and left. I don't like being uncomfortable in any environment and therefore will not be returning.
The food was very good although very small for the price you pay. We went around winter so we didn't have the option of the deck. The interior is a little old for my tastes but the grounds were beautiful. Would definitely recommend going in spring or early summer but still a very nice place.
Beautiful view of the surrounding country side from the dining area, good food. Great place to have a lunch or early dinner on a fall saturday, they also have wedding facilitys and cottages to rent, beautiful place.
Worst experience at a winery I have ever had. The staff was rude. We arrived at the end of lunch service and were told there was no seating even when several tables appeared empty. We put in a 5:15 reservation for dinner. We waited until 5:40. After inquiring as to why we weren't being seated, we were told they would "check to see if there were any tables available for 6." Half the tables on the patio were empty. Never any apologies. After being seated, we were abandoned. Never did see a server. Finally just got up and left. The interesting thing is, after we decided to leave, they had the nerve to call us on our cell and ask why we left. Except for one staff member, it was one rude experience after another. Very disappointing. I can't believe an establishment would treat a $300 table that way.
Beautiful & relaxing! Staff is so gracious & accommodating!!
Most incredible experience. Received a VM to inform us our cabin would be available early due the early check out of last nights guest. Another call to make sure we had no trouble finding the place. Walked on the door and they called us by name!! Wow. Check in was fast and simple - kind and sweet. Wine Sampling - FUN!! Crystal clean suite - beautiful. Dinner was amazing! View was incredible. Just can t say enough nice things about it.
We just stayed here this weekend for a cousin's reunion (12 of us) and had the best time! We booked villas 33 and 40 and they were absolutely beautiful! Better than the photos depict. They appear very new with high quality furnishings and stocked with everything you need. We had dinner at the restaurant the first evening and it was delicious with an amazing view. The next day we decided to go grab supplies to make breakfast (there is nothing within half an hour so plan ahead) and then we reserved the Ste Genevieve trolley to pick us up from there and take us to the wineries. They furnished us with a grill and we grilled out that evening because the restaurant was closed. I took a hike around the property one morning and it was beautiful. Villas 33 and 40 are right across the street from each which was convenient for going back and forth to socialize. We also enjoyed our night time swim! (Thank you for not closing the pool in the evenings.) We saw a wedding happening this weekend and what a beautiful place for it! Can't say enough great things about this beautiful winery! Thanks for making our first cousin reunion amazing!!
I don't even know where to begin with this review. I had wanted the rustic barn wedding and something small and nice. Chaumette was actually the first and last venue we had looked at for my wedding. From getting everything started, to having the tasting, to rehearsal, and then to the day of everything was amazing. Beth is so easy to work with and understanding. She made everything we wanted possible and more. I was never feeling stressed out or overwhelmed planning my wedding. The day of was a dream come true. We didn't have to set up anything because Beth and the Chaumette team had it all under control. We were able to relax until I walked down the aisle. Beth was helping every step of the way making sure everything was taken care of. I honestly could go on and on about how perfect my wedding day was and how happy my husband and I were. I would highly recommend Chaumette for either a wedding, a getaway, or even a nice lunch out in the country! We can't wait to come back and visit. To Chaumette and Beth thank you for everything!
Chaumette has a lot of potential but it is not the luxury accommodations it markets itself as. The service is bare bones. The restaurant is only opened for dinner with the full menu on Friday and Saturday. The Thursday menu is one meal without even a vegetarian option. We thought we booked a room with a soaking tub but when we asked to switch they wouldn't give us a different room saying it was obvious when we booked that our room didn't have a soaking tub. It wasn't obvious to us or we wouldn't have booked the room. The spa also is closed except for Friday and Saturday. There were lots of dead bugs in the swimming pool. We were so disappointed we left a day early. Hopefully, they will improve their service and live up to their potential.
Excellent food and beautiful scenery. Really enjoyed the wine tasting for the variety and quality and conversation with the nice lady serving us. Really fantastic time
Stayed at a villa with a friend for the night. Desk staff was very friendly. The villa was well maintained and clean. The view from our porch was so pretty. We had the added benefit of having great weather. The restaurant/tasting room was a short walk from the villas. Wine flights reasonably priced, as was the food. Would recommend this for a romantic get away or a girls night away :) Thanks!
If you re going to run an establishment with this much prestige, your hours online need to reflect your actual hours. My family and I drove in from out of town, 40 minutes each way only for you to be closed. We checked online and it said your hours were 11-5. Not so. Highly disappointed.
Absolutely phenomenal! Went there for my niece s wedding and was impressed by every part of the visit. The wedding and reception were there and both beautifully done. Staff was incredibly courteous and helpful. Food was amazing! How often do you say that about wedding food?
Stayed in one of the cabins and they are very modern and nice. The wedding party had a 3 bedroom that was even nicer.
It was a great venue with a wonderful staff, exceptional accommodations, delicious food and picturesque views. Recommend 6 stars!
Great wine and great views! Very nice, fancy place, but seemed kinda pricey.
Great to be back. Missed the great food and wine. Just sitting on the deck and looking out at the view, very relaxing.
My wife and I had our first wedding anniversary dinner at the Grapevine Grill and it was a great experience. Food was delicious and service was pleasant. BBQ shrimp highly recommended. Overall, the winery and restaurant are great.
I absolutely fell in love with Chaumette the first visit I made! The scenery, the FOOD, the WINE - all amazing. To top it all off they have on-site villas, a pool, SPA, and plenty of grounds to explore with a morning cup of coffee.
We had our wedding here in Sept 2014 outside the barn and the reception inside and it was all so wonderful. We rented out all of the villas the night of to guests and had a breakfast the following morning and we still (one year later) have guests/friends telling us it was The Best Wedding and Experience they have ever had in their lifetime. Jackie is wonderful and her staff is super-accommodating, the process was easy. We still enjoy going back a few times a year: Valentine's Day, our anniversary, or just a casual weekend away. We love it there. Would (and we do!) definitely recommend Chaumette to everyone. It's an amazing experience all-around! Cheers!!!
Great time.
Beautiful views.
Food was delicious, we had the filet.
Rooms are big and comfortable.
I love the white wash wood siding with the wood window look.
Wine was also good.
My wife and I enjoyed.
We will be back.
What a beautiful place. The landscape is picturesque. We had a wedding event in the barn and wow it was beautiful. Great food too and after there were s'mores and a sundae bar. Yummy.
I have been visiting Chaumette Vineyard & Winery for many years and it continues to get better and better. I used to visit the other winery's in the area but soon decided that Chaumette had the best wines and wine club. They also have superb food in the dining room. I always bring my house guests for a meal and great wine when visiting me. The staff has always gone out of their way with excellent service.
I have been to many functions there, including the Winemakers Dinner, New Years Eve Party, Fathers Day, etc. and I have always had a great time. I'm looking forward to the next Winemakers dinner. That's all I have to say for now, I think I will pour a glass of my favorite Chaumette Traminette.
The food was fabulous! I had the BBQ shrimp and the clam chowder. Amazing! The wait staff were friendly and professional
Booked a villa for a night because we were attending a wedding. Absolutely beautiful!!!The wedding and reception area were very charming and the buffet was very nice and quaint. It was a great experience! Ordered a breakfast tray for the morning after the wedding and it was very good. The amenities on site were nice and we made a reservation for lunch the next day and we were NOT disappointed! Beautiful presentation and well prepared. You can tell they use quality ingredients... it comes thru in the taste True to form it was on par with the rest of the facility. It was one of the most relaxing weekends my wife and I have had in a long time. My only minor complaint is the while the servers at the reception and the Tasting Room were all very pleasant and helpful they lacked some refinement that would bring another level to this great place. But please don t let that stop you from visiting... it really was a great experience and we will be back!
What a great place to visit! Great food, great views, great wine!
We were suppose to have my daughters wedding on the lawn in front of the barn and the reception to follow in the barn. The wedding was suppose to start at 6:30 so I started working on decorating the morning of. While trying to work they showed the property to several groups with people walking through all day. They didn't have the table clothes on the tables by the time I was told so I worked on other things till they finally got there. I set up the outside with flower vases, wood sayings, fans and bubbles in baskets. There was a lady walking her dog and they knocked one of the vases over breaking it. I was told all the candles and lights would be turned on before guest arrived yet they were not. Right before the wedding started it began to pour down rain so the wedding was going to take place in the loft. They didn't bring any of my flowers in, hanging wood sayings, the fans were soaking wet and the bubble basket was filled with water. the lights didn't work and everything was wet. The guest had to park their car in the mud and walk up a hill to get to the barn getting soaked. You think they would have had someone helping with an umbrella. The girls were booked to get their hair done but none of the staff talked about price until after the wedding then tried to charge us this ridiculous amount. The owner was rude to the guests. I have called to talk to her and I have not received a phone call from her to date and the wedding was on the 22nd. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Spectacular view! Late September to Early October are the best time to be there.
AMAZING! the food was awesome and the views are unparalleled!
I went here with 3 friends (Annual birthday / girls trip) and when we arrived we were greeted prompty; However, that was the only good thing they did. We stated we'd come a very long way for wine tasting and we were told that we were 15 minutes too late and they were closed the following 2 days. We were then told our only option, if we wanted to stay, was to pay for an expensive 3 course dinner and it was a pre-arranged meal, no substitutions. I asked if we could at least pay for a glass of wine since we'd driven so long to get there and she reluctantly said we could. We seated ourselves on the patio (after being told to sit anywhere without a table cloth - as if we weren't good enough to sit close to the interior.) After 5 or 6 minutes, we were asked for our order and after another 15 minutes, I went back inside to ask for water. The waitress handed me 3 empty glasses and ordered me to the bar area where another staff member was waiting and reluctantly filled my water glasses. After struggling to carry all 3 wine glasses of water at once, the only thing the gentleman, or should I say "male staff member" (hardly a gentleman at all) yelled at a waitress who was walking outside to hold the door for me. After another 10 minutes we still didn't have our wine. We decided to walk out. After walking out, snapping some pictures, making it to our car and taking the drive past the restaurant, we looked back and noticed that we still would not have been served (no one was at the end of the patio looking for us.)
Note to the public: this is a BEAUTIFUL location to snap photos, but do NOT eat at the restaurant or "bother" the wait staff.
Came here with my wife for our one-year wedding anniversary. It turned out to be "interesting" in a bad way. The wine was definitely good, but my meal, the open face burger, came out literally raw and cold when I had ordered it medium rare. I sent it back after taking a couple bites, and they brought the same one back, after about ten minutes, with the same pieces cut out, and still just as raw, just steamed over to warm it up. By then my fries were also cold, and they didn't make new ones. At the end of the day, I had burger blood all over my new plate with an inedible mash of food they had suposedly "redone". I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Then, after they credited my meal, to add insult to injury, a hornet landed in my glass of wine. That last part is admittedly not the winery's fault, just the icing on the cake. What was the winery's fault from the hornet is when my wife went inside to get a replacement glass, and told the wine-bar tender what happened, she handed my wife a cup and didn't offer to pour a good-will replacement fill to account for the hornet problem they had on the deck.
My wife and I chose Chaumette Vineyards & Winery for our 25th wedding Anniversary lunch/dinner through a friend of Natasha's that highly recommended this establishment. We were not disappointed! A wonderful atmosphere, beautiful rolling hills, peace and quiet, oh and the food was delicious, along with the wine of course. Plan on going back plenty of times ahead! Highly recommend.
We did not stay there. We did however stop in for dinner. The food was excellent. The service was good and the presentation was good. Serving sizes however on some of the items were small in relation to the price. But overall a really good experience at a beautiful facility and location.
Absolutely beautiful! Wonderful food, great service, friendly staff! So much more! Wine club, villa's, wedding and event venue. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!
Where do I start! My daughters wedding was at The Barn! It was absolutely gorgeous!
Beth was amazing from the beginning of reserving the barn , planning the wedding to making sure everything was in place for the ceremony and reception. The day of the wedding I was so relaxed because I didn t have to do a thing! Beth had it all under control and didn t miss a detail! It was exactly how we had invisioned it!
The food let me tell you I have been to many receptions were the food was nothing to write home about! Well that certainly was not the case at Chaumette! The food was beyond amazing! The three cheese smashed potatoes were the hit of the night! The citrus & herb Brined Chicken breast was so full of flavor and amazing! The asparagus was cooked to perfection! Everyone at the reception raved about the food!
I highly recommend Chaumette for your wedding venue!
All of you were amazing! You all made my baby girls day perfect!
Jennings/Farrington wedding 2018
Have loved this winery since its inception! I know the owners well, and deeply respect their work. Chaumette is pleasant on so many levels: food, atmosphere, location, customer service, WINE...you name it! My husband and I love eating at their Grapevine Grill, as the food is always phenomenal and decently priced, especially considering their high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. Eating on the Grapevine Grill's outside deck, overlooking the rolling hills of southern Missouri is one of my favorite views on earth.
Aside from the great food and wine, Chaumette also throws an AMAZING wedding. My husband and I got married here in summer 2014 with around 150 guests. We had the wedding at Chaumette's barn, and it was fabulous. Amazing food, atmosphere, drink, views, dancing, etc. We loved Chaumette's wedding planner, Sharon. She was immensely helpful throughout the whole planning process and was with us all night at the wedding, making sure everything ran smoothly.
I can't recommend Chaumette highly enough! The villas are expensive for a night's stay, but they're beautiful, spacious, and have the most incredible front-porch views! Even if you can't afford to stay a night, Chaumette is absolutely worth a day's visit.
Amazing food, view, and wine!!! Definitely check it out!
Great food, service,, scenery and music. Thank you.
What a great place. Really enjoued the Sams fix it. Ask for Louis he is friendly and very knowlegable about the wines.
Beautiful scenery. Great place to drink some wine and relax. The restaurant is top notch...great menu, presentation and service.
Very serene setting overlooking the countryside. They run the risk of building the place up too much, but for now, still feels quaint.
Some of the best wine in the area and a nice restaurant to go with it. We got the fancy fries and they were fantastic. Highly recommend going at a quieter time and sitting out on the wrap around porch overlooking the vineyard and nearby farmland.
The wine tender behind the bar was fantastic on our last visit and the wait staff was also very pleasant.
Wine and food were good, service was great, view was amazing
TLDR: Not a place I would return. Good views, cute outdoors area. Hard pass on the food. Do not recommend. Subpar service. Not mean or rude, just not present. Good lobster bisque though.
Full review: The lady under the giant painting where you order wine was kind and informative. The views are great and plenty of outdoor seating and parking. The tasting room and restaurant area weren't super clean. Some of the food was grossly overpriced. 1/4 a cup of runny gravy with a cup of rice shouldn't cost $19 and should not be called etouffee. The salmon and side "salad" were mediocre. Chicken tenders were good! We were warned that food would take 30 minutes because a large party had been seated, but it took well over an hour. We honestly wouldn't have even minded the wait if someone had come by the table to bring tea or water or even remembered to bring the ketchup we had to ask three times for. Not a BAD experience, but not worth a return for us.
Absolutely the best winery in Missouri hands down!
Wine is delicious, food is amazing, scenery is gorgeous and the staff is 5 stars.
The owner, Hank, is an incredible man with a passion for customer satisfaction!!!
Must see and explore. Definitely eat at the restaurant. Sit on the wrap around porch, listen to the breeze and sip your delicious wine.
Just go!! I've been with friends, family and my significant other.
TEN STARS
Had lunch, food was good, not great for the price, but It was an enjoyable day, I will go back
Stopped by for a wine tasting and the lovely lady behind the bar was very inviting and cheerful. She convinced us to stay for dinner and bragged on the chef. Every thing we ordered was amazing! Would definitely come back and recommend this place!
Great surroundings, charming and just how you want a vineyard should be. Wine and food is worth the try. Beware that wine tasting and the restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday. We were given very polite and professional service, both for our dining experience and the wine tasting. One of our best experiences so far on our holiday.
My absolute favorite place to spend an afternoon! The food and wine are always delicious and the service couldn't be better! I come for the food and wine, but stay for the breathtaking views.
We had our rehearsal dinner in the Barrell Room on Friday evening, our wedding in the chapel, and our reception in the ballroom. We had right at 100 guests, and the entire place worked out perfectly. Our guests absolutely loved the b&b amenities (we had all of the villas rented out for the whole weekend), the pool area, and the wine bar!! Rhonda, the coordinator was fabulous to work with, and my guests have given me so many wonderful comments about our weekend. It's so beautiful there, I truly have nothing bad to say about it. I highly recommend Chaumette as a wedding venue! They made many new future patrons by making my wedding so beautiful and special; my guests and I will all be returning there many times in the future!
Amazing food & wine, located on a beautiful property.
Beautiful setting great winery. We were on a trolley tour and decided to eat was seated our Server was not friendly at all we ordered fries and meals one person got their salad the other never did. We told the server we were on time limit was told they serve in courses. We never got our food in time to eat. 45 minutes to make a wrap? I would go back because I feel like it was totally the servers fault.
This has been our favorite winery in Missouri since it first opened for so many reasons. The layout and buildings offering wine tasting, dining, picnic area, chalets for overnight stays, spa, swimming, breathtaking views, best hospitality and partaking of the dining is always a pleasure. Have brought friends from the St. Louis area and those visiting us from out of town, and even out of the country, namely Scotland, and always have heard how much they enjoyed their time at Chaumette. Hank and his staff have truly made Chaumette a venue to celebrate, eat, drink and be merry. Frank and Georgia Rankin
Beautiful scenery, Make a reservation for lunch or dinner, walk-ins end up as take-out. Food was still good, but no service.
As wineries go they have a good not a great selection of dry wines. Even the semi sweet wines are on the very dry side. Did not taste the food so I will not comment. The price is 5 dollars for six samples with is the right price. So if they charge more the are either really good or really bad and need the revenue.
Serene setting, great wine and food in their restaurant plus luxurious lodging. Strongly recommend
Lovely winery, good wines, good food in a beautiful setting. A great place to spend an afternoon.
My husband and I were there this weekend for our 21st anniversary. We stayed in one of the villas and it was beautiful. Everything was amazing!! The food, wine, and atmosphere were all amazing! We loved it and we will be back very soon!
Very busy but service was fast. Overflow parking was available in the grass. Good music was playing with a live performer. Lots of outdoor seating with a good view. They also have a restaurant that has good food. The Ste Genevieve trolley stops here if you don't want to drive.
Amazing experience. Wedding coordinator Sharon was such a joy to work with.
I really had a great time here, its very serene and beautiful, you wine in peace .
