As a first time landlord i have found the Chattanooga Housing Authority to be very straight forward and helpful. Looking forward to working with them on more good properties and good tenants in the future.

I have had section 8 since 2008 but started it in MI where I lived til 2013 and moved to TN...started in Sumner County where they have plenty of workers and were always helpful, when it came to moving to Hamilton County in 2014 my caseworker in Sumner County couldn't even get a reply from the caseworker here in Hamilton County.....I did learn one thing and doesn't make sense since Hamilton County in such a huge County but doesn't have alot of caseworkers. I have been trying to get ahold of my caseworker to reschedule a inspection and looked up the housing number to call...I left a message at the operator and in less that 5 mins got a call back and help....was pleasantly surprised due to normally takes longer but got my caseworkers email and will be communicating that way with my worker....ask your caseworker for their email...easiest way to get with them and you have a history of communication...these folks are low staffed and yes can be frustrating bigtime...but if you have ever been in customer service etc and low staffed it can be very stressful....yes there have been times I get frustrated have severe anxiety issues with depression etc..but give these folks a chance and if you show a little patience they'll help you more...

I'm new to Chattanooga Housing Choice Voucher Program and from the beginning it has been nothing but unsatisfactory results. The front desk agent doesn't seem to be much of a people's person and at times can be rude with her responses to certain questions. I received my voucher in December 2015 and now I've been waiting for my home to be inspected for almost a month now all because of the inspectors are "supposedly" behind in their inspections. And that shouldn't fall back on families when they've completed all their paperwork and everything that was required of them in order to become a recipient of the program. To me it seems as if the Housing Authority is understaffed and now all recipients of all programs ranned through Chattanooga Housing Authority has to suffer which is very unprofessional and isn't acceptable when these are government sponsored programs. I pray that things get better soon but until then I do not like this Housing Authority.

They have horrible customer service, there are only three or four people( Jennifer, Tawana, Linda, and Tammie) that I can count on to be sincere and treat you like a human instead of a weekly paycheck!

As a landlord for an organization with our very foundation based on the community and its needs, dealing with CHA is appalling. I NEVER get responses back as a landlord for inquiries on our section 8 tenants, I never get error free documentation from the workers, and I NEVER have a good experience with a human being that's affiliated with the organization. The errors made by employees have cost me thousands of dollars, and make it a NIGHTMARE for landlords that want to help families and accept Section 8. When you see a place in the area that says, "No section 8" It's not usually because of tenant history, but a history of having to deal with such an incompetent group of people with little to no accountability from their "management".

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with. I was told to email lease documents to a section 8 rep so I could get paid. The email was sent, however I still didn't get paid. When I tried to explain myself all I was told was I have to wait. Payments go out at the beginning of the month, all requested documents were in by the 9th, and today is the 16th and the documents hadn't even been reviewed. I would probably be a little bit more understanding to the situation of why I haven't been paid, but unprofessionalism displayed by the employees working in that section ruined it for me. In the future, I hope that situations like this can be resolved without making public assestments of negativity. Thanks for your time.

I am new to chattanooga and I have lived in Dallas and Memphis and this housing authority is the worst so far. The front desk clerk clearly doesn't seem to like her job and is very rude. I need a 4 bedroom and cannot find the help or resources to do so. I'm thinking about porting back out from here. Nice city but no help or answers from the housing authority
