BEWARE! This hospital has hidden fees that most insurance companies will pay! Make sure your provider is not affiliated with Hartford healthcare. They have no idea what they are doing. Don t even try to contact the patient complaining sept. She really has no idea what she s doing. If you do contact that dept let the call go to voicemail so you have proof of what she is so called doing.
Terrible never ever will use anyone connected to Hartford healthcare billing.
I d rather die while going to any other place, then leave my loved ones with unexplained charges

We had a really excellent experience with the maternity team at Charlotte Hungerford. They were warm, informative, and helped us through an emergency c-section with calm, thoughtful support.
I spent some time in the ER before being admitted with a very painful condition (kidney stones/kidney infection). I was lucky to have Dayle as my nurse and I can t even begin to express how thankful I am for her care. She was extremely attentive, thorough, and caring. She was so on top of things that I never had to ask for anything! I was by myself and she made sure I felt comfortable and as relaxed as possible. Somehow, despite being in a tremendous amount of pain, she kept me laughing. She even brought me up to the 5th floor herself and put me completely at ease. It s nursing professionals like Dayle that make such a difference in patient care during a stressful times. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This is in reference to their Behavioral Health department. Quite possibly one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Staff was demeaning and the woman behind the glass doing the check out process was one of the most unpleasant and rude people I've ever come across. This was my second encounter with her so I know it wasn't that she was just having a bad day. The staff is incompetent and it felt as if it was everyone's first day on the job.
First they had my 75 year old grandpa sit in the waiting room next to a covid positive patient when he had an infection in his leg. A few weeks later they dismissed the way my boyfriend was feeling and his right thumb 4x the size of his left thumb until he constantly came back and finally told him he s in septic shock. They couldn t even deal with it he got transferred to hartford at midnight and rushed into surgery. Then they make my UNCLE leave my grandmas side in the emergency room because they won t give her insulin she should ve brought hers from home & remembered to do so while getting taken by an ambulance. Apparently her not being able to talk or walk is just arthritis so let s leave her in the ER for 2 days not admitting her then send her to litchfield woods for physical therapy. At the end of the day, they don t do any of the correct testing until you re basically a few short days away from death. They re just money hungry. Even the doctors at another hartford healthcare hospital says that they would never step foot in Charlotte they re trying to make it better it s just taking a very long time . If it s not a life or death emergency I d say go to hartford hospital (they ll probably transfer you anyway) or at minimum drive to Waterbury
I had a great experience at this hospital. The intake staff who took my vitals could have been a bit more personable but the lady at the window was so kind and the nurses and doctor who treated me we're so kind, careful and knowledgeable. I'm not sure why so many negative reviews. But we do have a responsibility to be good patients. Though these professionals are here to serve they are not servants and a trip to the ER is not a hotel stay, it's to figure out what brought you there in the first place. Be kind and kindness will come back to you.
This place is a joke. Worst hospital staff, and what a dump. They want to rush people out and the docs are tier 2 professionals. Avoid this place like the plague. Dr. James is rude and condescending, and has a terrible attitude. It gets better. 11:18 a.m. while siting in the ER one of the nurses is joking with the others about hitting an artery and blood going all over. Just the maturity and professionalism you want to hear with a loved one laying here. Pathetic and actually I ll be sharing this experience with the medical director and the Governor s office.
2 stars because the check in and triage staff were pleasant, compassionate and empathetic. However, that s where the good part of my review stops. After two months of dealing with a torn rotator cuff injury at work then 7 weeks of PT, an MRI, X-rays, Orthopaedic dr, PA s and no relief from ANY medications or cortisone injection and suffering from lack of sleep in all that time from the pain, I was at my wits end and decided to try the ER to see if anyone could help. I was very mistaken in going to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. APRN Stephanie was extremely condescending and ignorant. I didn t realize she was only an APRN until just before I left. She wasn t a doctor or even a PA? And she was dx ing me?? Never offered to let me see a dr or told me she wasn t a dr. Left me in a dark room and never put the lights on. Suggested at one point that I get tested for Lyme Disease??? Then another autoimmune disorder. She said she could give me something short term for my pain then told me to just check with my PCP and maybe get some blood work. For a shoulder injury?!?! I never had ANY issues until I got hurt at work so obviously it was ALL related to my injury. I told her NOTHING I had been given had helped ANY of my pain so I believed maybe I had been misdiagnosed. And also that I am allergic/sensitive to most medications. SHE WAS NOT LISTENING! I was on the verge of tears the entire time explaining everything I had tried, everything I had experienced, all my frustrations. She then had the nerve to ask if I wanted someone from Behavioral Health to come speak with me? I said what? She said well you look sad . I said sleep deprivation and frustration would make you sad too, then just asked what I needed to do to leave as no one had asked for my WC insurance information. Someone came (another woman named Stephanie who was very pleasant and sympathetic) and I left in tears that no one had helped. I was there maybe in total THIRTY minutes. I think that s a world record ER visit. I ll be sure to let my attorney know!!!
