About Challenge day
Challenge Day: Building Empathy and Compassion in Our Communities
Challenge Day is a nonprofit organization that has been committed to building empathy and compassion in our communities for over 30 years. The organization was founded by Rich and Yvonne Dutra-St. John, who were inspired to create a program that would help young people connect with each other on a deeper level.
The Challenge Day program is designed to break down barriers between individuals and groups, promote understanding, and build empathy. The program is based on the belief that every person has the power to make a positive difference in the world, and that by working together we can create a more compassionate society.
The Challenge Day experience begins with an assembly where participants are introduced to the program's goals and values. Participants are then divided into small groups led by trained facilitators who guide them through a series of activities designed to promote self-awareness, connection with others, and community building.
One of the key components of the Challenge Day program is its focus on emotional safety. Participants are encouraged to share their thoughts, feelings, fears, hopes, dreams – anything that they feel comfortable sharing – without fear of judgment or ridicule. This creates an environment where participants can be vulnerable with each other and build trust.
Another important aspect of the Challenge Day program is its emphasis on diversity and inclusion. Participants come from all walks of life – different races, religions, socioeconomic backgrounds – but they all share a common goal: to build empathy and compassion in their communities.
Challenge Day has had a profound impact on thousands of individuals across North America. Many participants report feeling more connected with others after participating in the program; some even describe it as life-changing.
But Challenge Day isn't just for young people; it's also for adults who want to deepen their connections with others or become more involved in their communities. The organization offers training programs for educators, parents/guardians/caregivers/mentors/youth workers/community leaders/faith-based organizations/non-profit organizations/businesses etc., so they can bring this powerful experience back home or workplace etc., creating ripple effects throughout our society!
In addition to its core programming (which includes one-day workshops as well as multi-day retreats), Challenge Day also offers customized programs tailored specifically for schools or organizations looking for something unique & impactful!
