Rented property from 21st Century, actually they bought my lease from the original owner. They showed up unannounced and took inventory of sorts of the unit in Abbey Ridge of McHenry, apparently they owned several units at that point. All was great until the end when I moved. I felt very poorly treated, and taken advantage of at that point and blindsided because I was expected to pay at least 6 months arrears in association fees at last minute that were not a part of my existing rental contract. Apparently the Abbey Ridge Master Association fee increased in the middle of my rental timeframe, nobody notified me in regards to such, and they definitely made me feel pressured to pay for it by 21st Century. In the end, they refused to return my security deposit because of carpeting that was not new when I moved in and was over 10+ years old. Blamed my pets even though I had paid hundreds separately upfront for a pet deposit and refused new carpeting when they offered it for free. Gave me 2 weeks to move out if I was not willing to resign the new lease with these added conditions: grand total to renew was between a hefty increase in rent + arrears of association fees, which added up to thousands, $4K+ to renew a lease for a townhouse. Nope, I walked away since I had better options already to chose from. However, never again, I bought my own property instead and pay considerably less for 3,000 square ft, lake rights, home today and I m just getting started. It was a petty business practice, so keep the security deposits, I m much happier now minus the headache of 21st Century in McHenry and used a different real estate agency and brokers to purchasing property now. I stayed silent on this for a few years now, I m not silent anymore.

Dennis Drake should have his real estate license pulled. He is incapable of representing the seller and presenting the truth. We almost lost the sale of our home because of his ineptness. Who shuts his phone off at 8pm and turns it back on at 8am because, he needs his sleep . Especially when he knows a full price offer is coming in and the buyer wants an immediate response. When the buyer pulled out he told us it was because she wanted to look at other houses. He lied to us. We called the other broker and she pulled out of the contract because we never got back to her as to whether we accepted her offer. We explained our agent never sent us the contract. The buyers agent told us he tried getting in touch with Denny at 11pm and it went to voice mail. Denny told us, if it sells, it sells. And, who would offer full price on a home? . Denny also said he showed our home to a client after receiving full price offer. We have Ring doorbell and there was no showing from Denny. He made it up.
He is a liar and not to be trusted. He needs to have his license pulled and not be allowed to represent himself as a licensed real estate agent. Shame on you Dennis Drake.
