Lots of things to do for the Francophone community.
Great space for events, classes, and other community activities
great place to socialise and meet new families our are just moving in the area
Enjoyed the sound control in the gym. Made for a pleasant basketball game.
Our kid goes to the karate classes there run by Fredericton Karate Dojo. Good little cafe there.
Integrated facility with lots of options. It's french though
Great venue to showcase a broad range of local talents. Have been to a few events held here always very clean and accommodating. Parking can be a challenge so recommend people walk or carpool.
I have been taking a french as a second language course here. The teacher is amazing and friendly. The staff that work in the center are friendly and make everyone feel welcome.
I was here for 10 days while volunteering with the floods. Staff were very personable, extremely clean building and lovely rooms, including an art gallery. Lots of parking and multiple entrances.
Mostly just visit the gym facilities to watch my daughter play basketball or volleyball. The lighting is terrible and the available viewing area is not much better. Upgrades are required and a new paint job to brighten it up wouldnt hurt either.
Wow! Fantastic French community center. School, recreational facilities, library and radio station all under one roof.
Programming to see!
Beautiful center. Listen to the 90.5 fm
Always great shows at the Center. Also a nice place to have meetings. The people who work there are very nice and friendly.
Excellent hospitality and services are second to none!
Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne: A Hub of French Language and Culture in Fredericton
Located in the heart of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne is a vibrant community center that offers a wide range of services and activities in French. With its mission to promote and celebrate the French language and culture, the center has become a hub for Francophones and Francophiles alike.
History
The history of Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne dates back to 1974 when a group of Francophone parents founded an organization called "Le Conseil scolaire francophone provincial de la Nouvelle-Écosse" (The Provincial Francophone School Board of Nova Scotia). The organization aimed to provide education in French for Acadian children living outside Quebec. In 1980, the organization acquired an old school building on Church Street in Fredericton, which became the home of École des Bâtisseurs (Builders' School), one of the first French-language schools in New Brunswick.
In 1993, École des Bâtisseurs moved to a new location, leaving behind an empty building that was soon transformed into Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne. The center opened its doors on September 1st, 1994, with a mandate to promote and develop cultural activities for all ages.
Services
Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne offers a wide range of services that cater to different needs and interests. One of its main services is language training. The center provides courses in French as a second language (FSL) for adults who want to improve their communication skills or prepare for official exams such as TEFaQ or DELF/DALF. It also offers immersion programs for students from kindergarten to grade twelve who want to learn or improve their French while studying other subjects such as math or science.
Another service offered by Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne is cultural programming. Throughout the year, the center hosts various events that showcase different aspects of Francophone culture such as music concerts, theater performances, art exhibitions, film screenings and more. These events are open not only to members but also to anyone interested in discovering or experiencing French culture.
In addition to language training and cultural programming, Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne provides other services such as:
- Meeting rooms rental: The center has several meeting rooms available for rent at affordable rates.
- Daycare: For parents who need childcare while attending classes or events at the center.
- Library: A collection of books written by Canadian authors mainly but not exclusively from francophone communities across Canada.
