I was in the waiting room for over an hour. That's normal for an emergency room. I presented with acute pain and radiculopathy. It was hard for me to sit still and wait. The Triage staff was very good. The screener at the door was professional.
The ladies behind the glass in admissions were laughing and carrying on about their chipotle lunch delivery and their lives in general. All the while, their patients were in pain and parents were trying to comfort injured children. Unprofessional at best.
I was brought to the back and listened to several patients conversations with their doctors for over an hour... also unprofessional and many HIPA violations.
I left, disgusted, without being treated.
The Director of Nursing and the Attending Physician should have remedial training in leadership, Hipa regulations, personal communication and bedside manners. Feel free to contact me if you need more context.
