it is an amazing place to get educated and although expectations are high it is worth it for. + there is wifi just not for kids or visitors: why would you need it and it is a school so obviously there is MINOR tech issues because of budget cuts and to comment on these things would be less productive, just ask the government to raise more money for schools, or at least any educated or intelligent person would see this as the problem. yes the school has some faults but what school does not. its a private school for the public you couldn't ask much more, tones of free clubs and an education to rival top private schools in the country and yet its open to everyone not private instead welcoming of everey nationality, race and religion.

I work near this school and the behaviour of the students is appalling. There is a police officer there most days and at 3.15 the atmosphere on Cowper Street resembles a football crowd. Today they threw a bottle of juice form the top floor window which covered passers below. Total dump.

Its an okay school, But the kids here and im talking in large numbers are quite naughty and their behavior is quite bad. They are quite ungrateful of the education they get here. They litter everywhere and especially A LOT in the playground. The money that Jamie Brownhill spends on the cleaning department is quite bad. And that money could go to equipment and others for the school. But the kids need to fix their attitudes and need to stop acting like bad men. Or what they call from the hood. A bunch of wannabees. I dont think they should have removed the cane to the hand law because these kids need to learn discipline, if not from their mothers then by teachers.

I attended this school almost 50 years ago and today I am still grateful for the education I received.
I realise things have changed radically over time but from its results, it is still achieving the goal the William Rodger set for the school, which was to offer education to all, irrespective of religion, colour or social background.
As the School is about to celebrate its 150 anniversary, perhaps one should remember and rework John Kennedy's remark, Ask not what the School can do for me but what I can do for the School.
Cowper Street allowed me, my younger brother to achieve a university education and supported both us use during our time there.

I was here for an event, but I wonder why. No wifi, horrible sound quality of the available equipment. Since it's a boy's school, also no women's restrooms. With so many options in London, why host an event here?

This school gives a public (private) education in a government setting. The best boys school in Islington if not north London. Teachers have high expectations of students in terms of work and behaviour.

An old Grammar School that like many others is now a State School. So it has a history that the school is proud of despite the change of status. In fact it reminded me of my old school that I attended as a boy; as did the musicians Sting and Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys). Academically it's one of the better schools in the area however if your son gets on the wrong side of the staff you may as well start looking for a new school unless he makes a tremendous effort to change their attitude. My son was no angel but the methods they used to get him out of the school were sneaky and underhand. This manifest itself when he was accused of swearing at a teacher in Old Street station. However when she saw him she had no idea who he was and had never seen him before. Despite this the accusation stuck and he was then targetted and accused of everything and anything the staff could come up with if a black kid was involved. Being a stupid young lad he started living up to the reputation they gave him and this resulted in him being excluded indefinitely. Note he was not expelled as this would have been something we could have appealed. He remained on their list of students until he eventually left education after he was home schooled. Even though he was complicit in what happened to him the school did not provide any support for my son or my wife and I.
