If zero stars were possible, that is what I would ...

If zero stars were possible, that is what I would leave. This company gouges people when they are at their most vulnerable. They refuse to work with any insurance provider and refuse to write off any amount that is not covered by insurance. The worst part is that when 9-1-1 is called, the patient does not have a choice to which EMS company shows up. So we (the consumer) are left to deal with an unethical company with shady business practices that insists on charging $2,100 for a 13 mile ambulance ride. Congratulations Central Emergency Medical Services! You win the least ethical company award!

Edit: After more than six months of fighting with Central EMS and my insurance company (Anthem Blue Cross), Central FINALLY agreed to write off the balance of my bill that was not covered by insurance. They said the could tell I had tried to get Anthem to cover more (which I have in every way possible) and they have also tried, so they will write off the balance. I think they finally realized I was not going to roll over and let them take advantage of me and my family. Stick to your guns, people!

I did seek legal advice from a couple of attorney friends and they both said it was better to handle this on my own than get a lawyer involved. I will be approaching my elected officials to try and get this issue resolved from a legislative perspective.

Until Central EMS confirms with me that they have changed their business practices, their review remains at one star.

Before you decide to have them transport your love...

Before you decide to have them transport your loved one let me share this. We worked a major accident on interstate 75 south at Hwy 138 on 1/20/2020. At approximately 1 a.m. all DOT boards warned of a major accident from over 5 miles prior to the wreck. On scene was HERO, Fire, Clayton County Police and a Wrecker. Cones and Flares were also set up blocking off the two left lanes. Central EMS #63 came speeding by in the left lane next to the cones so close it could have killed three first responders working the wreck. Obviously they do not abide by the Move Over Law. The ambulance had no emergency lights on which even if such was the case they must still by law move over. Calls were placed to Central EMS as well was an email but no response from them as of yet. So far this year over a dozen first responders and wrecker drivers have lost their lives on interstates from people not moving over. For an ambulance company to almost cause a fatality adds insult to injury. Since they do not want to return a telephone call I believe everyone should know on google as well as every social media platform and every officer we come in contact with while at work will be made aware of the recklessness of this driver. The driver needs to be terminated immediately before they seriously injure or worse kill someone.

Have been waiting over 3 hours from the agreed upon transport time. Because of the delay, my brother has missed his chance to say goodbye to our sister. Will never recommend these people, and will certainly let the hospice providers know of their lousy service

Beware of this ambulance service if your loved one is transported by them!! My mom had surgery at a local hospital in Atlanta at 7am & they didnt show up until 7am to pick her up! They started the transport and ended up having to bring her back because the doctor was not able to do the surgery so late. There are other factors that I'm pissed about but this is a business were you should NEVER be late!!

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with as a consumer and as a medical professional myself. This company sent me an original bill insisting that my insurance did not cover anything even though my EOB said otherwise. I called the number on the bill several times and the phone kept ringing. I verified that this was the same number on their website. So I finally sent them a letter and mailed it to them IN THE PRE-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE THEY SENT, and it came back as undeliverable??

I had to go online to search around for a a legitimate phone number for them that was on a 3rd party website. After several long back and forth calls with me calling them and the insurance company, since they kept insisting they didn't make a mistake (although they did), I had to have my insurance company call them directly to get them to fix the billing error they made.

After the insurance company paid their part, Central EMS did not once send me a new bill until after MANY requests from me to send one. When they finally sent it, I got THREE different mailings with the same billing date, and 2 OF THE 3 BILLS HAD THE WRONG AMOUNT (the amount before insurance payment). Even after I paid the balance, they kept harrassing me with phone calls, and they kept claiming they didn't know that I paid even though I paid online and have an e-mailed receipt??? This is ridiculous. My son had a life-threatening seizure, so we didn't have a say in who we used. This whole process just dug the dagger deeper, and I will do what I can to avoid them if G*d forbid we need another ambulance.

So far not very impressed. They need to not be used by children's ever again. If I could give a 0 I would. All they had to do was pick my kid up on time. But their scheduler apparently does not know the difference between am and pm. On my nurses computer it clearly says to pick up by 5:30am. Out is now 6:43am and still no transport.

The medic and EMT that came to my house after a fall that rendered me unconscious for a short time, were rude, didn t listen when I told them my hand hurt and I thought it was broken then proceeded to place the blood pressure cuff on the arm with the broken hand. This is just one of the examples of how I felt like I was not listened to because of my age and weight. Not to mention that they are now out of network for most major insurances. So be prepared for huge bills months after your accident.

Healthcare companies are hit or miss these days, However the vultures at this place take the cake. They threaten you with everything thing they know when you prove them wrong on billing issues. As far as the equipment they use, it is very outdated, do not deal with this group if it can be avoided.

They were on time, polite, and treated the patient and family with respect. They picked up from Houston Medical and transported two hours away. It was a cold day and they had warm blankets and were extremely professional. My child rode alone with the responders due to Covid but she was handled with extreme care. I haven t received a bill yet so I can t comment on that part but I wanted to give them a good review for my interaction with them so far.
