Beyond Literacy: Empowering Adults through Education
Beyond Literacy is the largest adult literacy agency in Philadelphia, formed by the merger of Center for Literacy and Community Learning Center. The organization is dedicated to empowering adults through education, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in their personal and professional lives.
At Beyond Literacy, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances. Our programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each individual learner, whether they are seeking basic literacy skills or advanced training in a specific field.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) – This program is designed for individuals who need help improving their reading, writing, math or English language skills. Our ABE classes provide students with the foundational knowledge they need to succeed in higher-level courses.
English as a Second Language (ESL) – For non-native speakers looking to improve their English language proficiency, our ESL program offers comprehensive instruction in grammar, vocabulary and conversation skills.

Career Pathways – Beyond Literacy offers career-focused training programs that prepare students for jobs in high-demand fields such as healthcare, technology and hospitality. These programs include job readiness training as well as technical skills development.
