A diocese that is in drastic decline. Almost every vital statistic (baptisms, weddings, etc) in 2016 is half of what it was in 2000, despite an area with a currently stable population. Their "church alive!" campaign says there will be many churches closing by 2018.

About Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh

The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh is a religious organization that serves the counties of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence and Washington counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. The diocese was established on August 11, 1843 and has since been dedicated to serving the spiritual needs of its members.

The diocese is led by Bishop David Zubik who was appointed as the bishop in 2007. He has been instrumental in leading the diocese towards a more modern approach to serving its members while still maintaining traditional values.

One of the main goals of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh is to provide spiritual guidance and support to its members. This is achieved through various programs such as religious education classes for children and adults, sacramental preparation classes for those seeking baptism or confirmation, and counseling services for those in need.

In addition to providing spiritual guidance, the diocese also plays an important role in supporting local communities. The Catholic Charities program provides assistance to those who are struggling with poverty or other difficult circumstances. The program offers food assistance, housing assistance, counseling services and other forms of support.

Another important aspect of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh's mission is education. The diocesan schools provide quality education that emphasizes both academic excellence and moral values. Students are taught not only how to succeed academically but also how to become responsible citizens who contribute positively to their communities.

The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh also places great emphasis on social justice issues such as immigration reform and environmental protection. Through various initiatives such as advocacy campaigns and community outreach programs, they work towards creating a more just society where everyone can thrive regardless of their background or circumstances.

Overall, the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh plays an important role in serving both its members and local communities through various programs aimed at providing spiritual guidance, support services like counseling & charity work , quality education & social justice initiatives . With Bishop David Zubik at its helm , it continues striving towards modernization while maintaining traditional values which makes it stand out among other religious organizations .
