Before his annual Lenten Appeal begins Bishop Burb...

Before his annual Lenten Appeal begins Bishop Burbidge needs to explain to his Catholics why a bishop would hand out Trump re-election MAGA hats to his Catholic High School bad boys at an anti abortion march and rally. Why is the church not educating Catholic youth? Why is the Catholic Church involved in the re-election of Trump? Trump stands for hate, bigotry and racism. Why are youth not educated on our Catholic values and social teaching of care for the least among us, welcoming strangers , respect people of all colors and compassion for the marginated and poor? Instead we have Catholic high school bad boys cursing and taunting a Native American prayer leader at the Lincoln Memorial. Is this what is taught in our diocesan Catholic high schools today?Bishop Foys in Covington seems to be derelict in his duty as a teacher of Catholic values and Gospel call to love the poor and vulnerable. His boys yelled out build the wall ! . How did he ever get the position of Bishop by the Vatican with his white centric vision of church? We want answers or no donations to your BLA! No sweeping this under the rug!

Five stars because the Bishop and most of the priests I've met here love Jesus and are passionate about spreading the Good News. Faithfulness to the magisterium is a trademark of most of our clergy. There are active youth groups at every parish, and growing campus and young adult ministries. I've never met so many young people interested in their Faith in the same place. Very inspiring! There are robust outreach programs for people in need, including Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services, Project Gabriel, and Project Rachel.

Some teachings are difficult (for people of all sexual orientations and backgrounds), but they are consistent with the teachings of Jesus, who established His church. The only "rating" criterion for an organization like this should be how consistently the organization acts with the magisterium/ Jesus.

Maybe nobody cares what a 20-something female convert thinks, but if the Church of Rome ordains a single woman to the priesthood I'm off to Orthodox-land never to be seen again.

For those who have forgotten, the consecrated priest acts in persona christi as he offers the sacrifice at the altar at Mass. I'll endure worse than some name-calling before I tolerate my fellow Catholics visualizing a female body in place of our suffering and tortured Lord. Like Hell I'm going to sit there quietly while the guy next to me can safely imagine the body of a woman absorbing the weight of all his sinfulness and spitting him back out a better, saveable human being. Best leave such a prurient fantasy where it belongs and nowhere near the Blessed Sacrament, shall we?

If you're a true Catholic, one that loves orthodoxy and realizes the Church, like Christ, does NOT change with the times, this is the diocese for you! Praise God that the Church, the true Chruch, still resides in this world. We moved here from Albany to find it. Sad it had to come to that, but we are SO happy here!

I've grown up in this diocese, but during my 20+ years here, my family has travelled quite a bit and let me tell you, never was there a better diocese than Arlington. To those complaining about hard Catholic teachings and driving people away, I'd just like to remind everyone that this isn't a popularity contest. Catholic doctrine has remained the same for over 2000 years and it's not going to change based on popular opinion.

I am surprised by some of the negative comments in these reviews. I have lived all over the US - Upstate New York, Chicago, Pennsylvania, DC - and the truth is you will not find a more vibrant diocese in this country than the Diocese of Arlington. I went to church there two weekends ago and we had to park in the extreme corner of the parking lot because the church was PACKED. Having lived there for 8 years I can tell you that everyone there is on fire for the Lord - the laity, the priests, and the bishop - and people earnestly want to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. If that's something that needs "reforming" - packed churches, people energized by their faith, and tons of ministries to be involved in - I don't want to see what the "reforms" bring in. Most of the "reformed" dioceses I know of are dead, empty places.
